Greetings from San Luis Obispo

We took care of some business, and headed out across Highway 58 from Barstow through Bakersfield (with a stopover for some shopping and Starbucks) and on to San Luis Obispo.

We decided to stay north of LA and take a more direct route to the coast. Highway 58 is a beautiful drive, starting out in the Mojave Desert, out past Edwards Air Force Base (and what must be the world's largest windmill farm) skirting the Sierra Nevada and Sierra Madre mountains, and hooking up with 101 at San Luis Obispo, with scenic desert, mountain, and farm country views along the way.

With its winding mountain roads and long stretches of open highway, 58 is a great route for motorcycles and sports cars. Not so much for those prone to motion sickness, though.
