Several fine stories by Charles Maldonado that covered the spill in the first few months are amiss, so as is my habit, I will add them here:

Redefining "Hazardous"
Life Among the Ashes
TVA Holds First Post-Disaster Meeting
Plus, Charles' blog, The Slug often focused on the spill.

Clean up pics
I grew up on Lakeshore Drive and my folks still live there now, for another month or two at least (all the other neighbors are gone, it's just them, one other older couple and a few TVA workers on the street). I always thought if our family ever left Swan Pond it would be on our own accord, and not because of something catastrophic (and preventable) like this. Anyway, here are some pictures of the spill and the cleanup I've taken over the last year.
