With Trump's win, Elon Musk stands to benefit

Musk is the richest man in the world, worth some $290 billion, and has a lot to gain from a Trump presidency. Many of the companies he owns, including Tesla, SpaceX and Starlink, rely heavily on government subsidies. He's already started to benefit by way of the stock market, with his investments soaring more than $26 billion on November 6. With a friendly government, Musk could continue to amass wealth and consolidate power, while using his feed on X as a megaphone to boost his allies.

McMahon is a professional wrestling magnate who ran two unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut. She was selected by Trump to lead the SBA during his first presidency. During her two years in that role, McMahon stayed out of the headlines, steering clear of the churn of controversies that were a feature of Trump's first term in office. She stepped down in 2019 to run the Trump-aligned super PAC America First Action and has remained in Trump's close orbit.

The futon extrapolation

Watching a Trump Administration ramp up is like watching a bunch of drunk frat boys assemble a futon. They threw away the instructions. The base is warped. It's not properly supported, but they do have a lot of wing nuts.

Trump picks Scott Bessent to serve as treasury secretary

The Cabinet-level job is to steer federal fiscal policies set by Congress and the White House. The secretary is also the executive branch’s top go-between with the Federal Reserve, a traditionally autonomous institution that sets monetary policies, such as determining interest rates and steering economic conditions at a broader level. That could be a delicate task in the incoming Trump administration, which is likely to put unprecedented political pressure on the central bank.

Wonder what changed his alliances?
