Thanks for posting this
It made my day!
Bottled water is never a good thing.
Bottled water is never a good thing. 40 million bottles a day go in the trash (ironic subtext?) and it takes a lot of oil, water and power to make and transport them. And the contents are tainted with endocrine-disrupting chemicals leached from the plastic.

I'm sure the sanitation workers were pissed off at the homeowner for offering such a toxic gesture and immediately called Greenpeace to report them.
No, I'm sure they go along
No, I'm sure they go along with the status quo like most people who don't bother to think about the harm they are doing themselves and the environment.
But screw it, Lovelock is right but I'm having a hard time getting used to not trying.

Hayduke, give this one a rest. I understand about plastic bottles, but what did you expect this homeowner to do, leave a pitcher and glasses?
The day we moved into this house (July 3, 13 years ago), it was about the same temp as today. The guy across the street, who we'd never met, came over with a styrofoam cooler full of ice and soft drinks in plastic bottles for us and the movers.
I did NOT give him a lecture on the environment.
A pitcher and glasses would
A pitcher and glasses would have been a nice touch. It's not like garbage men are going to throw them away out of habit.
LOVELY GESTURE
I think the bottled water was a lovely gesture on the part of the homeowner and I'm certain it was greatly appreciated by the sanitation workers.
I suppose they could have put the water into glass quart jars (thus saving the environment) but it might have been mistaken for Tennessee Moonshine.
Anyhow, it gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Thanks for the photo.
