The new McCain ad has reignited a controversy that I completely missed the first time around.
There is a growing fundamentalist belief that Obama is the antichrist. They have scriptures to prove it. My favorite "proof" is that he comes from zip code 60606. I am not making that up. And these people are serious.
This has apparently been making the rounds for a while. It even has a Snopes page, where the "rumor" is deconstructed in a scholarly manner, with a straight face as if it's something that MIGHT be possible.
Now, if someone is unhinged enough to believe in the Antichrist, Armageddon, and the Rapture, it's not much of a leap to conclude that Obama is The One. And that's exactly what analysts say the McCain ad is about.
If you tune your lizard brain to the right frequency and study the ad, you can hear Karl Rove's dog whistle. It is carefully engineered to trigger deep-rooted, pathological fears and hatred implanted through years of religious indoctrination and programming. It has all the code words and imagery. It's not even that subtle, but I guess you can't be too subtle with the intended audience.
It's hard to say what's more ridiculous -- that people believe this stuff, or that McCain would target these voters and welcome them as his core constituency. But I guess you have to dance with who brung you.
It might backfire, though. Because when the Antichrist appears, there will be 42 months of peace, 42 months of war, and then the Rapture (or something like that, I have a hard time following). And this is exactly what some Believers want. In their mind, a vote for Obama is a vote for the Rapture so we can all go to Heaven.
OK, then.

Wow! I said it would only
Wow! I said it would only get worse. Dang, what the heck are these people doing?
When listening to Air America yesterday, they were talking about how Obama was being called the Antichrist. I had no idea what they were talking about. I tend to not pay attention to the McCain campaign. I guess now it is oh so important to know thy enemy?
Well, can you prove he's NOT
Well, can you prove he's NOT the anti-christ? OK, then.
Can you prove John McCain...
is not the Anti-Christ? OK, then.
This knife cuts both ways. McCain is using the exact tactics I would expect the Anti-Christ to use, promising to protect all the knuckleheads that believe this drivel from the scawey bwack man. Go back to sweep wittle children...the big bad Democrat won't get you while McCain is on the job...
right...
This ad just like the others he has put out is just plain stupid. And exactly what he claimed he wouldn't do...negative, down-in-the-mud smear tactics. Talk about your flip-floppers.

Obama Antichrist Allegations
Can anyone prove he or she is not the incarnation of evil?
I mean, the devil is the father of lies, right? So even if Obama proved somehow that he was not the Antichrist (kind of like proving you are not attracted to the same sex, or proving that you are honest, or proving that you heard a message from God) well, that would just be his deceptive, hypnotic power at work again so we're back to square one.
If there is a spirit of Anti-Christ in the world today, is the spirit that rails against those whom Jesus loves, those whom he came to save, an evil, xenophobic, racist, proud, selfish, nationalist, bellicose, lying spirit that teaches "its ok to bear false witness if it gets our guy elected", "exploit thy neighbor", "judge others and give liberties to yourself", "put down your cross and seek worldly wealth", "return the least of these to their country of origin and build a fence to keep 'em out", "love not thy enemy" and "turn not the other cheek" "be fruitful and multiply - and lay waste to the planet", and finally: "give to Caesar what is God's (the pulpit and place of worship)".
Do any of these things sound familiar?
Lets just face it - there are folks supporting the McCain ticket and people on his ticket who share a common goal with the very people we are fighting in the middle east- an apocalyptic desire to set up a theocracy of religious fanatics who want to get into government in order to dismantle it, who believe that the worse things are in the world, the closer we are to God's triumphant return.
Perhaps the Anti-Christ is much closer to these people than they realize.
Sure Can
But first, let me address the email stating that John the Revelator proclaims the antichrist to be a Muslim man in his 40's. This is adding something to John's revelation that isn't recorded. It is a very serious thing someone has done. Perhaps this person is an unbeliever. In any event, John does say that all the plagues in his revelation will be heaped on the head of anyone who adds to his words. Rev. 22:18, For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophesy of this book,, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.
If you receive the Obama antichrist email, delete it. Do not send it on. John foresaw our day and he knew his words would be twisted.
John does not even use the term antichrist to describe this leader. He does say we can count the name of the second beast and it will be 666. John was refering to the Hebrew Gematra, ( I may be spelling this incorrectly) a form of numerology used by Hebrews in which each letter is given a numerical value.
What is interesting about this is that Obama's name comes nowhere near 666....
But George Bush does equal 666. This is the only method John gives us for recognizing the second beast.
Maybe the Antichrist to Wall Street...
Obama has more to fear from Wall Street than Crazy Street. He might want to ixnay on the taxay. He should have a twenty point lead. It is what he says that makes this a competitive race. Crazy fundamentalists are not the key problem. Hard working people that want to keep their money are Obama's nightmare.
Obama's tax plan?
So, you haven't read his tax plan, because if you had you wouldn't say this.
Karnack the Magnificent doesn't even know Obama's tax plan is. Neither does Obama. It changes daily depending on who he is pandering.
Do you listen to the man? Flip flop doesn't begin to describe it. He makes John McCain and John Kerry look like Socrates. Obama changes course from morning to afternoon. How it is possible to know what his "plan" is?
Since you know the man so well, what is his stance on off shore oil drilling this second?

Obama is probably receiving a euphoric bounce as the working class have finally realized that the solution to all their problems lie with a tune up and a few pounds of air added to their tires.

Long tradition
I remember when Ronald Wilson Reagan (6, 6, 6 letters) was the antichrist. Dumbya had a shot too.
But if Obama's really the antichrist he's going to win anyway, right? And if he's not (my pet theory), these poor people are being played by some evil, manipulative jerks who are taking advantage of their superstitions. In either event, they might as well vote for him.
Unless they're rich and hate their grandchildren, in which by all means vote for McCain.

Yes. Or another way to put it, McCain is mocking their faith and using it in a cynical attempt to gain political leverage.
Obama's not the
Obama's not the anti-Christ.....he's just anti-American. Any politician who subscribes to arbitrarily taking money from a corporation (oil company) under the guise of "wind fall profits tax" and giving it to the masses in the form of an "energy rebate" is un-American and a socialist, plain and simple.
He will lose this election in a landslide.
Huh?
Since virtually all polls have it a dead heat overall, McCain must really be leading the non-working class people. Who are they?
OK, Metulj:
He (Obama) will lose this election by a whole bunch.
A fine line
I do appreciate your fine snarkiness.
Thank you for the fine lines.

I agree. I think he will lose by a whole bunch. The GOP have only begun calling him a white woman raping, uppity, Anti-Christ, socialist, thieving Muslim coon. How much longer till they trot out his illegitimate children born of his Satanic child rape club that he was introduced to by Hillary Clinton?

I was raised in a fundamentalist denomination and Obama=antichrist is exactly the message I thought McCain was trying to push when I saw that ad. He's appealing to the crazies in his party.
Same here
And the attack is well coordinated with the author of "The Late Great Planet Earth" ( the precursor to the Left Behind idiocy by Lahaye) already getting up and announcing Obama as the evil one.
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
Hunter S. Thompson
Really?
He has very socialistic ideas........when it fits well with the audience. He's prone to flip and flop though (e.g., wire tapping and off shore drilling). I've not read about the white woman raping, uppity, Anti-Christ, thieving Muslim coon stuff. Karl Rove, right? He's the liberal anti-Christ.
If not, Karl, who said this stuff? "The GOP" is pretty broad.
No. I'm just not as smart
No. I'm just not as smart and sophisticated as my liberal friends who, when losing an argument, accuse their opponent of being a Dittohead or a Rush or Hannity or O'Reilly follower, which I guess is the same thing. Is Rush the Dittohead?

What's effective about these
What's effective about these ads is not that they are directed at some sort of mentally challenged class of McCain supporters, but that they are designed instead to provoke uproar on the internet, and best yet, coverage on the evening news. The ad linked here is one minute, fourteen seconds long. It will never run as a purchased spot in any television market. It is, however, primed to be excerpted for inclusion in the evening news, accompanied with breathless commentary. Ultimately that just diverts coverage from real issues to the horse race, and (for free!) redistributes the silly concepts in the ad to a whole bunch of people who don't even know how to work the internets in the first place.
True dat...

Jesus is a comin'
It's true that Obama is the Anti-Christ. It's pretty much a well known fact by now. I think I've figured out a plan for Jesus:
Why would the antichrist bother?
True story: 2-3 months ago a coworker told me he got a phone call from his accountant (or something of that nature) who warned him not to vote for Obama because Obama is the antichrist. I had not heard that before. We laughed.
Wouldn't the antichrist choose a more "unnerving" appearance for that audience, oh--I don't know--maybe... a smirking white man? And choose a more WASPy name like--say, maybe... "George"? Seriously. Oh wait.
Come to think of it, the antichrist would probably tell the current prez: Mission Accomplished!!
Whatever
Call Obama whatever you want..right now
Because next year we will be calling him
Mr.President
Sorry bill young.........
Obama cannot win more than 44% of the vote. McCain's win will range from "sound" to a landslide. (And McCain is a weak candidate!) I believe Hillary would have won. Biden too. The dumbass Demo's are going to nominate THE most liberal major party candidate EVER. THE most radical. I don't believe we're ready for socialism no matter how pissed people are at GW.
The good news is that most GOP-ers don't believe he's the antichrist. So at least he's got that going for him.
Non-Sequitur
But you are ready for socialism. If you are not, then why are you not calling for an end to corporate welfare?
of the week. Nice.
Overconfident?
Maybe but I think Obama's going to win.
Why? In my opinion:
1.The we will not vote for Obama because he's a:
Muslem/socialist/antiAmerican/radical/uppitybrother bad rap thats out there will do damage but will not cost him the election.
2.Electorial Map:
A.Obama will hold the Gore/Kerry states.
B.I like our chances in Va but a Virginia on either ticket could be the deciding factor.Ga,NC a little tougher but Obama in the hunt.
C.Ohio..the big dog swing state..Gone with every winner since '60.Obama wins here & it's close...
Finally,if Tn goes Obama..well that would be something.
Obama had it won...
Not now. Obama hurt himself badly with his mumblings on raising taxes and not drilling for oil. Only to be followed by reversing his course. Obama has hurt Obama much more than McCain could or can.
This is actually an Obama versus Obama election. Only Obama can keep Obama out of the White House.
"This is actually an Obama
"This is actually an Obama versus Obama election. Only Obama can keep Obama out of the White House."
By far the smartest thing I have ever read on this blog.
This whole socialism trope
This whole socialism trope is silly. Was FDR a socialist? According to the GOP know-nothings, yes. I'm sure you wingnut guys all said that Bill Clinton was a socialist.
It would be really helpful if you learned what the word actually means. Hint: It's not taxation and government regulation of the marketplace, not even some small income redistributions, which happen all the time, just from middle class to rich under Republicans.
Liberty and justice for all.
My home
Well, if it goose-steps like a socialist...
It's clear from a close reading of his two books that he's a firm believer in class envy. He assumes the economy is a fixed pie, whereby the successful only get rich at the expense of the poor.
Following this discredited Marxist model, he believes government must step in and redistribute pieces of the pie. That requires massive transfers of wealth through government taxing and spending, a return to the entitlement days of old.
Of course, Obama is too smart to try to smuggle such hoary collectivist garbage through the front door. He's disguising the wealth transfers as "investments" — "to make America more competitive," he says, or "that give us a fighting chance," whatever that means.
Among his proposed "investments":
• "Universal," "guaranteed" health care.
• "Free" college tuition.
• "Universal national service" (a la Havana).
• "Universal 401(k)s" (in which the government would match contributions made by "low- and moderate-income families").
• "Free" job training (even for criminals).
• "Wage insurance" (to supplement dislocated union workers' old income levels).
• "Free" child care and "universal" preschool.
• More subsidized public housing.
• A fatter earned income tax credit for "working poor."
• And even a Global Poverty Act that amounts to a Marshall Plan for the Third World, first and foremost Africa.
His new New Deal also guarantees a "living wage," with a $10 minimum wage indexed to inflation; and "fair trade" and "fair labor practices," with breaks for "patriot employers" who cow-tow to unions, and sticks for "nonpatriot" companies that don't.
That's just for starters — first-term stuff.
Obama doesn't stop with socialized health care. He wants to socialize your entire human resources department — from payrolls to pensions. His social-microengineering even extends to mandating all employers provide seven paid sick days per year to salary and hourly workers alike.
(link...)
Unfortunately, Obama has not
Unfortunately, Obama has not proposed "universal" "guaranteed" "socialized" health care.
Anyway, all these things you list are signs that he's the Antichrist? Where does it list all that stuff in the Bible?
And if he is the Antichrist, won't he take over the world and destroy it (or whatever is supposed to happen) whether we elect him or not?
And if he is the Antichrist,
And if he is the Antichrist, won't he take over the world and destroy it (or whatever is supposed to happen) whether we elect him or not?
Hah! Yeah, if he's the Antichrist it won't matter if he's President or not and I guess we won't matter soon enough.
No doubt you're stupid

Well, that didn't take long:
And this is funny:

Isn't it odd that every Dem candidate for president always has the most liberal record? Ha ha. We can wish.
McPander
Let's all be clear too: McCain flipped 180 degrees on offshore oil drilling. And took huge donations from the oil industry, some possibly just before he flipped.
Obama has stated that he is willing to consider SOME offshore drilling as part of an overall energy policy, and mostly to compromise with Congress (hey, that's novel!) in order to get an effective, real policy that will transition us off oil sooner.
Obama speaks frankly in his stump speeches about the reason for his compromise and even warns new drilling won't do any good in bringing gas prices down. It's just a bargaining chip and he's willing to say so.
McCain claims new drilling is going to do everything we wish it will. That and some pixie dust.

Here's one: Obama has
Here's one:
Obama has arbitrarily decided that $11.8BB Exxon Mobile profits were too much last quarter. He has declared that oil company profits are out of line generally. Therefore, he proposes an unconstitutional tax on oil companies that he wants to give to the masses in the form of a $1000 energy credit. He wants to take property (dollars) from these American companies that employ millions of Americans and re-distribute it to the masses because..........he says so.
That, my dear Rikki, is clearly Marxist socialism plain and simple. It doesn't matter how many libs like metulj tell me I don't know what socialism is.
Who's to say that next quarter Obama doesn't decide that Procter & Gamble's profits are out of line and re-distribute some of those in the form of a consumer-goods credit or how about Microsoft? You you get a.........software-technology credit compliments of the great one.
This is dangerous. And pandering.
That is neither
That is neither unconstitutional nor socialist. Excise taxes on oil, minerals and other natural resources have been part of the American economy for as long as there has been an America, as have windfall taxes. Since oil leases typically base the tax on volume, not price, a windfall tax is the normal mechanism by which the owners of the resource share in profits caused by a rise in the commodity price.
If a windfall tax is socialist, this country has been socialist for a long time.
Given all the socialist road building and socialist wars the oil companies have benefited from, I would think they'd be happy to share a sliver of the windfall the shrinking dollar has brought to their coffers. The oil companies did nothing to create windfall profits; in fact, Republicans did all the work. They deregulated mortgage lending and crashed banks and pinned the U.S. to grossly expensive occupations, turned us into a beast that tortures human beings and eroded the worth of our currency. Why aren't you guys willing to share the fruits of your labors?
IOKI...
Because they're Republicans. The proud, the arrogant, the not so few (but still smaller tent).

Marxist socialism. Check your facts, Rikki. You don't have a clue what a "wind fall profit" is. The oil companies profits don't even come close to the definition. You obviously don't have a clue how American corporations work either.
Check your facts, Factchecker. Seven (7) of the last ten (10) presidential elections (smaller tent????). They're about to make it 8 of 11 with a shitty candidate because of the dumbass donkeys nominating an extreme liberal with marxist socialist tendencies. Obama plays well with MSNBC and idiots like Keith Oberman and Chris Mathews. Unfortunately, the white steel workers in Pennsylvania and white coal miners in West Virginia and the white auto workers in Michigan and Ohio aren't real cool with those tendencies. But we shall see..........
At least there are plenty of us arrogant republicans who don't think Obama is the antichrist.

You are the one who has to prove his point, not me. You said an informed voter would find Obama to be a socialist, clearly implying that there is solid information available showing that to be the case. So far you have supplied a single piece of evidence that does not even prove your point, and you have demonstrated that you do not know who would pay a windfall tax, what they would pay it on, and that you can't even spell it properly as one word.

Or was he a Marxist?
You got it
Jesus was definitely a socialist. Karl Marx was way too enchanted with market forces and is often misunderstood. Any wingnuts who actually read his works would know that and not misuse him as an example.
And Spit Cup keeps slinging socialist around like its a bad thing. I bet he will refuse Social Security when he retires because it's socialist. I bet he also refuses company paid health care, vacation, retirement, and all the other benefits those damn socialist unions won for the common man.
No way he'd feed at the socialist trough. It's just too repugnant to even consider for that old over the hill golfer wannabe, Spin Cup.

I didn't say racist, but maybe I should have thought about the GOP base you seem to represent.
Your wisdom and popularity here continue to flourish.
Sweet Potato Pie
• Place all ingredients in a mixer (except the pie shells) and mix slowly until everything is combined. Mix on high for a few minutes until there are very few lumps left.
Prebake two pie shells for 7 minutes at 350ºF with convection on.
• Fill the shells all the way to the top and bake at 350ºF with convection on for 1 hour.
• The pies should not jiggle very much when you take them out of the oven. Let them cool, then cover and put in fridge to chill before serving.

It's silly to think BO is the Anti-Christ...
he's just rabidly anti-American.
I think Obama recognizes the stumbling block to his candidacy is less John McCain, and more his own cultural attitudes, anti-capitalistic goals, and his character.
In my opinion, Obama is a Communist. He long ago took that "one step," as in, “Socialism is one step from communism.” Whatever albatross he's chosen to hang around his neck, whether it be Marxism, communism, or socialism, he is for empowering the “State” or government to dictate the terms of everyday life to the individual.
Just listen to his own words:
"We can't drive our SUVs, and eat as much as we want, and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.
"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen."
It's the "That's not going to happen"-part that is truly chilling. He's clearly telling all Americans that the way we choose to live, the hard work we've done in order to advance ourselves this far, will be subjected to the test of meeting the world's approval, and if our behavior doesn't meet "the world's" and his approval...what then?
This has gone way past the jokes of "inflate your tires to solve the energy crisis," and "I'll be president of these 57 states for the next ten years."
This guy is truly frightening, and I'm worried about the future of my country should this man be elected president.
Banana pudding
Banana pudding anyone?
Arrange this delicious banana pudding in a glass serving bowl or individual dessert glasses.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups milk, low fat or whole
3 large egg yolks
3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla
vanilla wafer cookies
3 to 4 bananas, ripe but firm
sweetened whipped cream or whipped topping
banana slices for garnish
mint sprigs, optional
Preparation:
In a bowl, combine the sugar, salt, and flour; stir to blend. Slowly stir in milk until smooth. Pour into the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture begins to thicken.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks; gradually whisk in about 1 cup of the slightly thickened hot milk mixture. Return egg mixture to the double boiler, stir in the vanilla and butter, and continue whisking and cooking until well thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
In tall dessert glasses or a 2-quart serving dish, make a layer of vanilla wafers then sliced banana. Spoon some of the pudding over the banana layer then layer more vanilla wafers and banana slices, topping with more pudding. Serve with whipped cream topping. If using short dessert dishes, use only one layer each of the wafers, banana slices, and pudding, and then top with a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish each serving with a few slices of banana and a mint sprig if desired.
Serves 6 to 8.

I had not heard that from Obama...
"We can't drive our SUVs, and eat as much as we want, and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.
When did "other countries" get a say in what Americans do? Is Obama running for President of the United States or President of Europe?
Maybe he should decide.

Elvis Presley's Grilled Peanut Butter
and Banana Sandwich
2 slices of white bread
2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter
1 small ripe banana mashed
2 tablespoons butter
Spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread and the mashed banana on the other. Press the slices gently together. Melt the butter (or to be truly Elvis-like, melt bacon fat!), over low heat in a small frying pan. Place the sandwich in the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides. Eat it with a glass of buttermilk.
Please note: Elvis tended to eat 12-15 sandwiches a sitting! So belly up!
Is Obama running for
Is Obama running for President of the United States or President of Europe?
Or perhaps President of the Free World? That was a role we used to take great pride in.
Then W started lying to the UN and ridiculing allies. He turned the U.S. into one of the leading human rights abusers and scapegoated soldiers to evade responsibility. He and the Republican Congress neglected the need for energy policy reform for years, exacerbating the problem instead with incentives for buying SUVs and an ADM-backed corn-ethanol plan. Meanwhile, they deregulated credit and lending markets, falsely propping up the economy for a couple years with bad credit.
Now we depend heavily on "other countries" for oil and "other countries" hold tremendous amounts of U.S. debt, taxpayers are bailing out irresponsible banks billions of dollars at a time, crime is rising, the dollar is plunging and "other countries" have no respect for us.
Personally, I'm happy to see a candidate with leadership skills ready to mend fences and work to return us to the "leader of the free world" status we once enjoyed. It's going to be a long slog, and it is clear W's brigade of idiots remains committed to standing in the way of any and all improvements.
Oh, no! You forgot 'Bush blew up the levees'!!
Then W started lying to the UN and ridiculing allies. He turned the U.S. into ...yadda, yadda, yadda ad infinitum.

BO did say he was not an American running for president, instead he was addressing people as a "citizen of the world."
Shades of professional Vietnam veteran John Kerry's "French litmus test for America" taken to the nth degree, anyone?
And the reason you didn't know he said that is because Katie, Brian, Tom, and Matt won't allow the One-Man Gaffe Machine® to destroy his own presidential bid. They can't risk the public hearing BO's verbal fumblings, bumblings, ramblings, and Freudian-slips because it would interrupt their liberal propaganda holding him up.
To get the facts, to hear the clips, to see the videos, you've got to go to talk radio or the internet. Y'know, it's those pesky truth-tellers the Left can't stand because they can't force their pablum on anyone in the free and open marketplace of ideas.

I love peanut butter, bananas, and both together too. But I think I'll just stick to a good wheat bread with crunchy PB with bananas sliced in. Add a little of your favorite jelly or jam as glue. I like something like rasberry or boysenberry jam.
I can't find an organic PB that comes close to tasting as good as Kroger Natural. The best I've found is Arrowhead Mills, but it's still not as good as K-Roger's. Can anyone recommend one? (Peanuts get a lot of pesticides.)

Cranberry-Pear Pie
For the Filling:
For the Crumb Topping:
• Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
• Place the filling ingredients in a large bowl and stir well, making sure the pears are evenly coated with the cinnamon. Transfer the mixture to the pie crust.
• For the topping, crumble together the sugar, flour and margarine. Add small amounts of flour, if necessary, until small crumbs form. Sprinkle the crumbs over the pie, covering completely.
• Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees F and bake for about 30 more minutes, or until the crumb topping is golden brown and the pears and cranberries are soft (test with a toothpick). Let cool for at least 1 hour before serving.

I’m really not too
I’m really not too concerned with identifying the taxonomic variants of BO’s social-engineering goals. What is ultimately a toxic feature common to them all: coercive utopianism.
As the German resistance posters put it during the 30s referring to the choice between Nazi Socialism vs Stalin’s Communism, “Spuds or Potatoes?”
This isn’t about definitions, it’s about a gut check. We’re asking if Obama’s thinking falls right in line with coercive utopian ideologies that were found to be very destructive in the 20th century. That century alone saw the slaughter of more than 100 million people due to the religion of secular humanism/social Darwinism/philosophical naturalism/communism/Marxism/fascism/whatever.
Ironically, this fanatical devotion to secularism and self was the undergirding principle which caused more deaths than all the so-called “mainstream religious” wars in the history of mankind combined.

THIS IS NOT A VEGAN RECIPE
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
* 6 cups semolina flour
* 7 cups white sugar
* 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cardamom
* 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
* 1/3 cup cashew nuts
* 1 cup hot milk
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat a large dry skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Add the semolina, and toast, stirring constantly. Stir in the sugar and cardamom while toasting until light brown and fragrant, about 10 minutes.
2. Heat a small amount of the ghee in a separate skillet over medium heat. Add the cashews, and cook until lightly toasted, about 10 minutes. Add the cashews to the semolina along with the remaining ghee. Gradually stir hot milk into the semolina until it is thick enough to pack into a ball. Remove from heat, and form palm-sized balls. Let cool and serve.
Very sweet. Not diabetic friendly.

In other words, you're going to say whatever you want about him without any regard for context or meaning.
Not bad, but I have an even better example of a Republican propagandist trying to stand reality on its head. Yesterday Thomas Sowell wrote a column blaming "the media" for ruining Stephen Hatfill's reputation, not the Bush DOJ that leaked Hatfill's name and had to pay him $5 million in reparations, not the Bush DOJ that was trying to steer the investigation toward an Arab perp, but the media. He even mentioned in the column that the government was forced to pay $5 million for the leak, which shows that he knows his audience well enough to realize conservatives have no discernible capacity for critical thought.

You have a really good point here. Compared to 100 million dead, 4,500 Americans is nothing. And 100,000 Iraqis, who cares? We'd have to stay there 100 years like McCain says to catch up to the bad guys.
The relatively small numbers of dead and maimed Americans prove the war has been well managed, and it was clearly the highest and best use of those trillion tax dollars, even the missing billions. Who cares about 8 or 9 billion dollars missing? Obviously not McCain, so why should anyone care? It's hardly enough to bail out a bank.

You may not have suggested any killing, but you don't have to. You've got thugs like Ann Coulter and Mark Levin to do your dirty work, anonymous emails calling a Presidential candidate the anti-Christ.
Do you ever say "Whoa, easy there" to your thugs? No, you encourage them. chakra comes here ands associates Obama with the murder of 100 million people, and you egg him on. Guess who actually got murdered in Knoxville: liberals. As usual, the political right has blown off any examination of their role in the tragedy, though I have heard a few Unitarian jokes from righties.
It is the silent assent of conservative/Republican/Libertarian/whatever that is their most disgraceful character. Silence in the face of torture, silence in the face of lies, silence in the face of politicized justice, silence in the face abused executive privilege, silence in the face of reality. That is exactly what I'm talking about. You are happy to try to draw a line between yourself and them, but you never have the courage to draw a line between yourself and what they stand for. Your tribe did not vote locally. Who cares more about their country, those citizens that vote, or the people that don't vote?
You will not speak honestly
You will not speak honestly to the question. Where is your concern for what Bush has done to this country? Where is your concern for the ongoing financial disasters under Republican deregulation?
Try voting...
Where is your concern for what Bush has done to this country? Where is your concern for the ongoing financial disasters under Republican deregulation?
I vote. That is more than most people do. Do I have concerns? Of course. That's why I vote. Maybe you should try to get some of your tribe to try this voting thing. It does more than pondering the great concerns.
Just the other day you were
Just the other day you were lamenting the death of Black Wednesday, bemoaning how all the people you were counting on to vote stayed home and gave Ragsdale a victory. So I guess your tribe isn't worth much either, is it? (Never mind that my peers not only vote but run for office and that I was talking about a younger demographic I am not part of)
Instead of perpetually looking for dodges and distractions, you could show some integrity and address the topic at hand: where is your concern for what the corporate, Republican Congress has done to our economy? Where is your concern for the radical erosion of checks and balances under the lawless Bush regime?
Where is your concern for
Where is your concern for the radical erosion of checks and balances under the lawless Bush regime?
That't not a problem. That's a benefit: Free Markets!
Call Nancy and Harry...
So I guess your tribe isn't worth much either, is it?
81% of the registered voters did not vote locally. The victory went to the Apathy Party.
When that many people do not vote don't you think the media's role should be examined? This may be a signal that November will be another embarrassment.
As to your other question, I see the problem as Congress. Not a Republican Congress but the entire Congress. Your tribe in Washington shows "leadership" by advocating a continued ban to oil drilling. They say "keep your tires inflated". You blame our energy policy on the Republican Congress. Take off the partisan glasses, it is the entire Congress that is dysfunctional.
Who is the leadership of Congress now? That would be your tribe wouldn't it? Have you called Nancy and Harry with the questions you ask me or do you just blame everything on the dreaded Republicans? The problem is the entire Congress. But mostly it is the leadership.
I have been very critical of
I have been very critical of both Reid and Pelosi. I have also been critical of Congress as a whole, which has failed over at least 30 years to move this country off the oil teat. You obviously know very little about what I stand for, and you would rather pigeonhole me than simply ask what I believe on a particular issue.
But energy policy is not the matter at hand. The issue is Republican deregulation efforts that have destroyed pensions, mortgages, employment security and benefits and brought about a serious weakening of our currency. You claim you are not a Republican, yet you persist in shifting the focus to Democrats. You simply lack the integrity to honestly assess problems and look for real solutions.
And you offered nothing on the subject of Bush's lawlessness but silence.
Deregulation?
But energy policy is not the matter at hand. The issue is Republican deregulation efforts that have destroyed pensions, mortgages, employment security and benefits and brought about a serious weakening of our currency.
Energy policy is the issue at hand. So you say I should ask you, fine, I am asking. What should we do?
I think we should drill, conserve, bring on the nukes and the wind, and research how to make solar cost effective. Corn Ethanol should be stopped right now, it is counter productive. Research switchgrass and methocellulose crops and see if they can be cost effective.
And like I have said for over two years research coal gasification. We have the greatest coal reserves in the world. Both gas and oil like liquids can be derived from coal.
But the eco-nuts want only wind and riding bicycles. That won't work. So why not stand up to these people rikki? You can talk to them better than I can. The problem is the Al Gores and Barrack Obamas. Do they really want a solution or are they only interested in power?

Cocoa nib praline
Chocolate filling
For crust:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 9-inch-diameter glass pie dish.
Mix melted butter, sugar, and salt in medium bowl. Add flour and mix until well blended. Press dough onto bottom and up sides of prepared dish; crimp edges decoratively. Bake crust until golden brown and cooked through, about 18 minutes. Cool crust completely on rack. Maintain oven temperature.
For cocoa nib praline:
Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk first 5 ingredients in medium bowl to blend. Stir in cocoa nibs and chopped pecans. Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls onto prepared sheet, spacing 1 inch apart. Bake until mixture spreads and is deep golden brown, about 18 minutes (mixture will flow together into 1 piece on baking sheet). Remove from oven; cool completely on sheet. Break praline into irregular pieces or shards. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Store airtight in single layer at room temperature.)
For chocolate filling:
Bring 2 cups milk to simmer in heavy medium saucepan; remove from heat. Whisk egg yolks, brown sugar, vanilla, and remaining 1/4 cup milk to blend in medium bowl; whisk in cocoa powder and cornstarch until smooth. Gradually whisk in hot milk mixture. Return mixture to saucepan. Whisk constantly over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils. Remove from heat. Add chocolate and butter; whisk until melted and smooth. Pour filling into cooled pie crust. Refrigerate until filling is cold and set, about 4 hours. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and keep chilled.)
Using electric mixer, beat cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Cut pie into wedges. Serve with whipped cream and praline pieces.
NOTE:Cocoa nibs (bits of roasted shelled cocoa beans) are available at specialty foods stores or chefshop.com.
Servings: Makes 8 servings.

Wow! Thats one helluva a desert. Almost too pretty to eat... :-)
Per John McCain Senator Obama Is the Anti-Christ
So, now according to John McCain, Senator Obama is the anti-Christ.
If this latest political strategy of the GOP and Senator McCain was not so un-Christian and un-American, their desperate attempt to portray a United States Senator as the anti-Christ would be laughable or at least generate a bit of pity.
Republican Party fear tactics to elect George Bush targeted those among us easily led to be afraid of counties which did not attack us and non-existent mushroom clouds. They encouraged fear until some voters saw Al Qaeda hiding under every bed. The GOP even specifically targeted those voters whose greatest fear was Americans who are simply homosexual. They have now outdone themselves with their latest attempt at fostering hatred and division.
Now with only 10% of Americans still believing the GOP's less than subtle message that Senator Obama is a Muslim, the classic Rove Strategy is again running in high gear and, as before, depends on fear, intolerance and ignorance to succeed a third time. The far-right political shock jocks and mass-produced spam emails weren't getting the job done. They were not generating enough fear about Senator Obama. It was time to play hardball.
Enter the McCain campaign to save the GOP by spreading it's own unique message of fear across the internet to remind voters that Republicans are the only ones who can keep us safe from the worst they can convince us to believe.
Even as McCain's campaign and the GOP belatedly protest that their advertisement suggesting Senator Obama is the anti-Christ is simply a "joke", their campaign strategists know full well some voters are already going through their entire collection of the Left Behind series looking for confirmation of this latest GOP claim.
The McCain GOP strategists understand these voters will be too busy to notice the real world while the 'truth' is right before their eyes:
"This mudslem, am sure he's one of 'them', is indeed a junior senator!"
"Yes, look here, it's right here in the book!!"
"The speech, the speech, he gave a speech just like that! I knew it, I just knew it!"
"I'm sending this solid proof out to everyone on my email list!"
"I'm checking my bible right now!!!"
"I'm going straight to my IRC political chat room and post this important information!"
"We need to expose this Obama as the anti-Christ before it's too late!"
Never mind that Reverend Tim LaHaye, who recognized the GOP advertisement as coming straight from his very popular and very fictional Left Behind series, stated: "The antichrist isn't going to be an American, so it can't possibly be Obama. The Bible makes it clear he will be from an obscure place, like Romania." Facts will not enter into this latest GOP campaign smear strategy.
"If you believe in Jesus, you'll vote against the anti-Christ!"
Think I am exaggerating what is already being said and spread around thicker than peanut butter with the help of McCain's low class campaign trick? Spend some time in IRC political chat rooms and peruse some of the spam email being sent coast to coast. Check out some of the crackpot websites and blogs already dedicated to proving this ridiculous GOP claim.
THIS is exactly what John McCain's advertisement is trying to encourage.
THIS is what they are trying to promote.
THIS is why McCain has no problem pushing the idea of Obama as the anti-Christ.
The Republican Party and John McCain's campaign strategists are more than aware of basic human nature. All campaign strategists study human nature in order to use it to their best advantage, the same as corporations have always done in their attempts to sell us product. The McCain campaign believes their linking Senator Obama to the anti-Christ is a solid campaign strategy to foster foolish rumors built on foolish fears spread by foolish humans.
John McCain believes it to be a workable, cost productive and effective strategy or he would not have allowed his campaign to produce an advertisement of this nature. He fully understands some people will believe and spread these lies regardless of reality. His GOP strategists consider this advertisement to be a success if it will help to spawn the least bit of doubt or create yet another distraction from issues for which they have no viable answers. The GOP is an old hand at instilling fear and know how to play gullible voters willing to fall for it and willing to be used as fools and tools. The McCain strategists were taught well by Karl Rove.
The McCain campaign doesn't want us to remember that the Republican Party and Rove played on ignorance and intolerance to win the last two presidential elections. They prefer we forget how they encouraged hate towards our neighbors. They don't want us to remember how they fed us fear in order to sell us a war. They fail to realize, however, many voters refuse to forget.
With this pathetic and more than obvious GOP campaign strategy to paint Senator Obama, a United States Senator, as the anti-Christ, they have taken their well worn fear tactics far beyond even the worst of gutter politics. The fact John McCain has now stooped so low as to use Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as a political pawn in their attempt to create fear among Christian voters is reason enough alone not to vote for the man.

Speaking of horseradish--
My SIL threw himself a BD party barbeque while I was in San Francisco, and Rachael, who has become a pretty traditional type, wanted deviled eggs on the table. I took on that task, and got to thinking about kicking them up a notch -- so I threw a bunch of horseradish in along with the pickle relish, mustard, mayo and the regular stuff. We sprinkled them with smoked paprika, and dang!
We made four dozen -- 96 halves, and they all got gobbled up.
They were HOT.

Pie is great and all, but how about some cookies?
Zucchini Chocolate Chip Cookies
...because you're always looking for ways to get rid of extra zucchini this time of year...
1.5 c of zucchini, shredded
Set Aside
3/4 c. softened butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
Cream butter and sugars together.
1 egg
Add to butter and sugar, beat until fluffy. Set aside.
1.5 cu whole wheat flour
1 c. flour
1.5 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 c. chocolate chips
Mix together in separate bowl.
Add zucchini and dry ingredients alternately to creamed mixture.
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and mix ingredients.
Drop onto greased baking sheets in preheated oven at 375F for 10-12 minutes.
Allow to cool on drying rack and enjoy. Makes about 2 dozen cookies. Kid tested on neighborhood rapscallions.

The New Right
The Reagan Revolution
Before '64,the conservatives were a bunch of old isolationist moss backs. The '64 Goldwater campaign brought a bunch of young folks into the fold & a new brand of western conservatism. It also brought a fellow named Reagan to the national political scene & 16 years later he was elected president.
In my opinion the Dixiecrats were not conservatives. They were racist populist. To me there is no real connection between the Wallace vote & the Reagan vote.If you believe that there is a conection then Carter's southern vote in '76 is a Dixiecrat vote & therefore Carter won on racist votes.I think times changed..people change & Reagan lead a switch in the south from Democratic to Republican.
I really don't know how they got the name..but the neo-conservates are anything but isolationist.JFK's inaugual address inspired the neo-conservatives.Kennedy's miltary would be more aggressive than Ike & Truman. The US would never again sit idle as China,Cuba, southest Asia & eastern Europe joined the communist block. No more half way wars like Korea. After the Bay of Pigs JFK became less aggessive in miltary affairs.Plus they thought LBJ,Nixon & Ford were no different than Ike & Truman. The neo-cons became Republican under Reagan. They were disappointed his words didn't match his actions.
The economic & social conservatives came to power with Reagan. The economic conservatives did not believe in cutting deals with the Wall Street Republicans or liberal Democrats that amounted to huge government give aways. The social conservatives believed the country was being sold out by immoral compromise.
The Reagan Revolution put together the south, the neo-cons,the economic & social conservatives & won 3 straight presidential elections & took over both houses of congress.
HW & W
The Reagan Revolution propelled HW to the presidency. However, the failure to get Hussan lost the neo-cons & breaking the no new taxes pledge lost the economic conservatives.Buchanan ran an insurgancy from the right in the '92 Republican primary & Perot ran an economic conservative insurgancy in the general.Clinton won.
W ran as a conservative with a heart in '00.It damn near got him beat. The war in Iraq got the neo-cons in his corner. In '04 W ran hard for the social conservative vote. The economic conservatives rationalized their vote.Went with security over economics.
What would Reagan do? Not what W did.
The neo-con theory of an aggresive miltary policy was never accepted as the way to go...until W.It's proved to be sorely lacking & has got us in a war we dont know what to with.Reagan never got us into a war.
The social conservatives were appauled after Katrina.Reagan would have got those folks help.
The economic conservatives know that W's policies have put the country behind the 8 ball.Reagan had a dip in '82 but never nothing like now.
The New Right
The new right decided the way to attack is to say the foundation of the modern Democratic Party is greatly flawed.FDR was a communist. The New Deal,The Fair Deal,The New Frontier & The Great Society were all socialist.
Therefore,Obama is a communist at worst a socialist at best.
Lets throw in anti-American elitest to boot.
You cant really have a disagreement with the New Right.
They will come back with
FDR was a communist..he let Stalin, who was far worse than Hitler, take over eastern Europe. So if you want the terrorist to take over elect Obama.
Socialism is that what you want..to be like China?
Now you're calling me a racist.I'm telling the truth about Obama. You dont have to bring that up they will
because the MSM & the New York Times says it & they know you are thinking it.
The thing thats got the new right in a tizzy?
They cant stand McCain.
It's going to be a rough down & dirty campaign.
And it's just getting started.
Is he or isn't he the Anti-Chist
So what? If he is or isn't it make's little or no difference. The Bible says these things will come to pass and I for one can not change what is to be. I can only hope to be smart enough to know what is right or wrong and not judge others should they take the wrong path. When one man or many take the word of Christ from our way of life he in fact is a Anti-Christ. When our goverment can pass laws forbidding our children to pray then don't you think the Anti-Christ is already here?? As for Obama... yes he too will walk the road of the Anti-Christ and one should look at the big picture, what is to be will be. You will not change gods plan with a vote because the damage was years in the making. Because I'm a witness to Christ word I fear not the out come and no longer vote.

McDonald's lost track of how many billions of burgers they sold decades ago, but their meat is still substandard crap no one would slap on their own grill. Rumsfeld is a war criminal for what he created at Guantanamo, and that is true even if 51% percent of voters think it is OK to torture Muslims. It is not OK for the United States to torture anyone, and your appeal to mob rule just proves that you are unprincipled.
Your degenerate lying is what this country needs to overcome, and I hope you continue to mouth off like an idiot so that people can see that their choice is McCain and the morons vs. Obama and hope for a better future. Rikki, where do you get your statistics? I'm not buying this any more than I think 51% of muslims think it's ok for muslims to fly jets into our buildings or burn American contractors alive and hang their charred corpses off of bridges or cut Americans' heads off while another films the gruesome act.
Rumsfeld a war criminal? You libs are all alike.....you are always quick to condemn the USA and whine about how we are wronging the world. Next week, at the convention, the DNC is going to parade (use) a bunch of ignorant people in front of the camera...people who are down on their luck, lost their jobs, can't get medical insurance, blah, blah, blah. Never fear, Barack the ultra-lib is here! Not one single person in this God-awful land will be unemployed or without insurance if you vote for him.
Rikki, where do you get your
Rikki, where do you get your statistics?
That statistic comes from the 2004 Presidential election, in which a slender majority of Americans gave their tacit approval for torture by re-electing the administration responsible for the torture. Really, 51% is an underestimate, since many Democrats seem content with allowing the whole disgraceful program to be swept under the rug and blamed on a handful of soldiers.
Rumsfeld was the architect of the whole torture program. He gave himself the power to approve torture techniques and recruited the private contractors who trained our soldiers to commit illegal acts, contractors who have never been investigated because the military tribunal that looked into the numerous and widespread incidents had no jurisdiction over the contractors. The number of Americans willing to recognize these horrible human rights violations perpetrated in our name is very small. Most people, like you, cultivate ignorance and try to forget what little they have learned about these war crimes.
As usual, there is no substance to your response, just cheap attacks on a straw man and a glaring display of ignorance. General Anthony Taguba conducted the military investigation, and he has called Rumsfeld a war criminal. Are you going to slander a highly decorated American General as a whiny ultra-lib?
Thanks for staying you and continually proving us right
You mean the gimmick that Reagan started? Except he introduced it for SOTU addresses.
Where do you get this claim? And "God-awful"? So you admit you hate America. Why do you? Is it because your favorite president of all time has failed so badly that those you boast about who voted for him have turned against him with near record low approval ratings? I agree that must worry McSame and your whole (hah-hah, ahem) "big tent" party.
Taguba was charged with
Taguba was charged with investigating what happened at Abu Ghraib. Clearly this was torture whereby the prisoners were humiliated, electro-shocked and bitten (or made to feel that they were going to be bitten) by dogs. This crime was committed by individuals who were subsequently sent to prison.
Rumsfeld approved harsh interrogation techniques, not torture. These techniques were performed on "unlawful combatants." These were terrorists caught on the battlefield trying to kill our soldiers. In prior wars, these combatants would have been shot by a firing squad for fighting without a uniform on.
You know not what you speak about, Rikki. I'm just glad we didn't have a bleeding heart pussy liberal who always blames America first at the helm when we got hit and had to go to war. They tried to lose this war anyway. Thank God W stood up to pompous shit lefties and did what he had to.
Rumsfeld approved harsh
Rumsfeld approved harsh interrogation techniques, not torture.
Could you please give me the definitions and examples of each? I'm not kidding; the line has become very fuzzy and I'd like to know where you draw it.
For example, is waterboarding "harsh interrogation techniques" or is it "torture?"
bleeding heart pussy liberal
pompous shit lefties
Speaking of hate speech..... Seriously, do you want to have a debate with the liberals on here, or do you just want to sling insults? I'm interested in participating in the first. The second, not so much.
I don't believe
I don't believe waterboarding is torture any more than sleep deprivation is torture. Both are unpleasant, I'm sure. (I'm speculating that waterboarding is unpleasant.) There is no known lasting physical or mental harm. Sorry for offending you, Rachel, but it does get real old listening to people blame America first - we're always the bad guys, the war criminals, etc. I apologize and will try to tone this kind of speech down.
we're always the bad
we're always the bad guys
Nope. We are not always the bad guys. Often we are the good guys. We should be the good guys most of the time.
When we invent excuses for torture, build prisons in Cuba in which to torture people, hire the most degenerate guards from the private-prison industry to manage the prisons and train our soldiers, then ship those same soldiers and contractors to Afghanistan to torture people there, then ship them to Abu Ghraib to torture people there, then scapegoat soldiers for doing what they were told while the contractors and civilian leaders walk free, then we are definitely bad guys.
And when we try to redefine torture so as to not confront the problem honestly, we are bad guys. When we pretend Abu Ghraib was an isolated case despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, we are bad guys.
When we have to exaggerate and distort positions we disagree with in order to rebut them, we are not bad guys, just blame-liberals-first morons.
And if Al Gore had been President in 2001, Richard Clarke's counterterrorism plan against al Qaeda would have been launched in December 2000 instead of being delayed until Sept. 4, 2001, and the WTC towers would likely still be standing today.
If it's simply unpleasant,
If it's simply unpleasant, are you willing to be waterboarded yourself to prove the point?
What passes for Fair and Balanced
But Bush/Cheney has protected me. They don't even say since 9/11.
If Gore had been president and the towers were still knocked down on that date, the GOP Mighty Wurlitzer, from Rush all the way straight down the line, would be calling him a mass murderer every single day with no let up, ever. It would be even worse than Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick.
really?
Like they did when the towers were bombed & the other attacks we had when Clinton was president? Whatever
Yes, but of course magnified
Yes, but of course magnified many times. Remember they (Falwell and others echoed throughout the MW) were already calling Clinton a murderer. "Dead bodies" were showing up around Arkansas, they said. Then, Hillary supposedly murdered Vince Foster, an over the top smear Rush was hoping to reprise had she gotten the nomination. And of course Clenis is blamed for 9/11.
You can pretend you've never heard any of this. It would just be front and center 24/7 if a Dem had been in office during the same 9/11 attacks that had Bush in that Twilight Zone trance in front of fellow skoolkidz.
You'r right
I forgot about Vince & those guys ending up dead around the Clintons. I guess I'd better keep quiet.
The OP shows such bigotry
The OP shows such bigotry and prejudicial rant, that it is no different than that Karl Rove stuff that Liberals seem to love to carry on about. It is clear that Obama is NOT the anti-Christ and solidly and factually deconstructing such a statement is necessary but to call anyone who believes in the Christian Prophetic message of the Anti-Christ, the Rapture, Armageddon is as bigoted as it gets. There are millions of devoted Christian believers that no more accept such a statement about Obama than the man on the Moon does but attacking their religious beliefs, as this Neal Character does, only demonstrates why there are Reagan-Democrats and others who while not the GOP, cannot stand the Liberals. Furthermore, when did this Neal character obtain the credentials to tell the Catholic Church, all Protestants, the Orthodox Church, and other Christians, that three of the central tenets of their religious faith is "unhinged?"
The U.S. Constitution, it is what makes us free and makes us American. Let's treat it as such and with care.

Tell you what, you find me a Catholic Priest, Theologian, or even the Pope, who does not believe in the Anti-Christ/Armageddon and you will have proved your point. Catholics may not believe in all that Protestants do but the OP made it clear that the entire religion of Christianity is composed of those who are, "unhinged." That is about 2 billion people of the world's current 6 billion or so, and I for one am curious as to where one person can call 2 billion people "unhinged?"
The U.S. Constitution, it is what makes us free and makes us American. Let's treat it as such and with care.

I asked you for proof of a Priest or a Pope that does NOT believe in the Anti-Christ/Armageddon, provide it please. Also, I am well aware of what a Catholic believes as well as having read Augustine, Polycarp, so forth but that is NOT the issue here now is it? The OP makes it clear that anyone who is a Christian believer in any of these Articles of Faith is "unhinged." I am glad that you have provided material to demonstrate that the OP is calling the 1 billion plus Catholics, "unhinged." It is a no-brainer that Catholics and Protestants differ in their interpretation of the Bible, that is NOT the issue here, now is it? No, what is the issue is that the writer of the OP made it clear that anyone who accepts those religious beliefs is "unhinged." A great example of the bigoted and prejudicial beliefs of most but not all Liberals in this country and as bad as the Rights is with some of their comments.
The U.S. Constitution, it is what makes us free and makes us American. Let's treat it as such and with care.

this is exhausting
After reading this blog and the constant arguing back and forth I've come to the conclusion that everyone needs to take a step back. Calm down. Stop fighting about whose party is right and whose party is full of crazy loons. This shouldn't be about parties. This is supposed to be about America. The country that was founded on the principles and ideals of great men. The problem is that those ideals were 300 years ago. The world has changed, we must all face that. Conservatives... you must be aware that loving this country means allowing the opposing ideas a fair shake. We chose that right, we don't condemn for diversity. Liberals... while the open mindedness and different track is often what we need, there is something to say about tradition. The world has changed, yes... but for the better? I don't know. Yes, we can cook a meal in under 3 minutes now, we can talk to anyone around the world, and we can watch images on a glass screen that are so clear you mistake them for reality, but the moral changes have NOT been for the better, in general. Both sides have points. Those in these parties must come together, or we will fall apart. There is too much talk about republican this or democrat that. Let's just refer to it as America. No one leader is perfect, and no politician is sparkly clean. This election should be decided with compromise in mind. If we find the good points in each candidate and stop looking at the bad, we would be better suited to find the best choice.
