It was great. Really concerned before the game, but I don't think they ever trailed.

Great game
It wasn't as close in the end as the semifinal game, but this was a really entertaining game to watch. Parker showed why she's so great - her selflessness. Shannon Bobbitt and Nicky Anosike are some of the greatest role players on any college team. Rutgers was tough and they'll be back. But the Vols' execution in the second half was priceless. Domination on the offensive boards. Bobbitt hitting threes late. And Parker dishing it like Magic Johnson. What a great way to win it. Congratulations Lady Vols!!!

A great team
Not to second guess the most winning coach in NCAA history, but I sure would've liked to have seen Pat put Cait McMahan in for a minute or two. It just seemed like the little sparkplug deserved to get her name in the box score.
Cait McMahon
I think she's still injured from a torn ACL. I know she didn't play much her senior year at Heritage. She'll get her chance next year.
I don't want to start a poll
I don't want to start a poll on this...but how many games will the lady vols lose in all of next year. I can see them running the table or maybe losing 1 or 2 at the most.
Repeating is a dicey
Repeating is a dicey thing.
I remember Chamique, as a junior, talking about how great '99 was going to be, with Michelle Snow coming in. Looked like a 4-Peat for sure.
Didn't work out that way.
And Maryland didn't have any seniors last year, either.
Repeating is tough -- savor the moment.
What does Big Nick want to tell GWB???
From the KNS:
Something to Say: The sweat had barely dried on Tuesday's victory and UT center Nicky Anosike was asking Summitt whether the championship would afford the team a chance to visit the White House. Summitt said that Anosike told her: "I have some things to talk about with President Bush."
Yeah, I saw that. I wonder
Yeah, I saw that. I wonder if she'll really say anything to him or if Pat will make her make nice.
I doubt Pat Summitt will
I doubt Pat Summitt will try to shut her up.
I was covering the legislature back in '91 when the team won its third championship. They were invited to Nashville to be honored by the General Assembly. I remember that Tyler was just a little baby being doted on by all the players, who took turns holding him.
Abortion was a huge issue that session, and there were lots of bills being introduced -- mostly by the anti-abortion side -- that nibbled around the edges of abortion rights. Reggie White came in and conducted a rally up on the Plaza where plastic fetuses were given out.
Anyhow, the team was assembled in the hall outside the House great hall, and Daedra "Night Train" Charles (that year's Wade Trophy winner) overheard me interviewing somebody or other about some abortion bill. She came over to me and told me she had something to say about it. The coaches were standing right next to me, and I waited for them to stop her.
They just smiled, and Daedra, that year's Player of the Year and captain of the Lady Vols, proceeded to inform me that she was pro-choice, and to tell me why. I was really shocked that that Pat and Mickie didn't try to shut her up, and shocked that she was so passionate about the issue. They just stood there and smiled, and I got a great interview out of it.
