"I am a strong gun rights advocate," he said in a statement. "I made the decision to discontinue the policy of prohibiting concealed carry in Knox County libraries after a constituent brought the issue to my attention saying, ‘Self-defense should not end in the parking lot of the library.’”

I suppose it depends on intent and result as to whether or not this move would qualify. Perhaps it's time for a healthy debate on just what kind of government we have in Knox County. Does a known attempt to cause harm to individuals count?

It appears that this move may be without constitutional precedence and that Glenn Jacobs unilateral move may, or may not, be dependent on the wording of statutory law. Given that I'm not a lawyer, I'm not sure both 1) if Glenn Jacobs indeed has the power to do this, and 2) What are the repercussions when something bad comes of this move.

Should Glenn Jacobs be able to be held personally liable for what appears to be a personal decision to impose his political beliefs upon our county, we may be able to finally throw his ass in jail for his crimes against humanity. I think he's overstepped the boundaries of his power.

Proving harmful intent and reckless, deliberate, indifferent regard for the people he is in charge of governing isn't the easiest thing to prove in court.

Who the hell takes a gun to the library?

Safety should not end while visiting a library.

It's disconcerting to visit some places and see bullies with guns.

That would have gotten ugly during covid. Nurses were literally getting phyically assaulted for not acknowledging that covid was a hoax. That's why our nursing shortage is even more acute than the rest of America. Mayor Jacobs appears to have little respect for the law, either in a real or hypothetical sense.

There is little doubt in my mind that one of his cult members would have opened fire.

I think that's what he's trying to inspire his cult to do right now. We shall see what happens.

At the risk of saying "I told you so" it was quite clear, if one was studying the statistics, that we were on course to kill a child in late 2020 (I found the correlation in November) and despite pointing that out, we still failed to take any measures to stop it. As the current head of the Health Department, Jacobs has made/approved the decision to withhold many analytic statistics from the public. They're buried somewhere. Two children have since died and I noticed the obituary for another very young man from Halls who passed from long covid today. Halls. The kid didn't stand a chance. I still won't go to Halls to shop to this day. It's an infection waiting to happen. I really feel for that young man's parents.

There's a lot of personal guilt when one has spent years of his life trying to alert people to the fact that covid is both real and responsive to mitigation practices. Especially if one turns out to be the worst covid activist in America. I will never get over my neighbor's child dying because I failed our community. I still cry over that.

You are too kind. I can only imagine how sad it must be to have a child you know die from covid.

Keep in mind that covid is still here. I know of a medical technician that got covid from a patient just last March or April. This person ended up with long covid and had to take medical leave. Who knows how long it will be for the person to get better.

I know of someone who works at a university, not U.T., and this person has two acquaintances that just recently got covid.

I am scared when I see a gun. I do not see a good guy. I will be writing our mayor to tell him I no longer feel safe when I visit a library.

I'm puzzled by this order. Tennessee no longer requires a carry permit. Except you can still get one. They call it an "enhanced" permit or something. You still have to go through a background check and training for the "enhanced" permit, unlike allowing any yahoo to just carry a gun around with no training or qualification.

So is he talking about the "enhanced" permit or the blanket NRA "constitutional carry" permission granted by the state and that other reprobate Gov. Lee. No local reporter has asked for clarification as far as I know.
