Next sched. action:

Description:

As introduced, replaces the Tennessee Education Association's recommendations with any state-licensed classroom instructor for consideration by speaker of the house for appointment on the Tennessee financial literacy commission's board of directors. - Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 7, Part 31.

Current 49-7-3103(b): "The speaker of the house of representatives may consider for appointment the names of individuals recommended by the following boards: Tennessee Bankers Association board of directors; Tennessee Credit Union League board of directors; Tennessee Consumer Finance Association board of directors; and Tennessee Education Association board of directors."

Proposed: "The speaker of the house of representatives may consider for appointment any state licensed instructor in the classroom or the names of individuals recommended by the following boards: Tennessee Bankers Association board of directors; Tennessee Credit Union League board of directors; and Tennessee Consumer Finance Association board of directors."

The bill appears to be part of a larger effort to remove any reference to the Tennessee Education Association from state law.
