One killed in Fountain City near Gresham Middle School
The shooting was at an apartment complex in the city limits just 500 feet from Gresham Middle School and less than a quarter mile from Fountain City Lake/Park.
Shots fired at The Ball adult night club

Husband accidentally shoots wife

A North Knoxville man attempts to clean his .45 caliber handgun after returning from the shooting range when, according to the KNS, it fired.
Woman shot in chest
Man taken into custody. The shooting happened at an apartment complex at/near the Lonsdale community in the city on Dayton Street off of Western Avenue, next to a church.
Man shot in abdomen
Believed to be a robbery gone bad. The incident occurred on Washington Avenue in the city, just off of Cherry Street.
Officer wounded during attempted traffic stop
KPD Officer Andrew Olson was shot in the leg (through the police car door) during a chase to apprehend a man driving a stolen car. The suspect was later arrested. The shooting occurred in the city near the intersection of Washington Pike and Alice Bell Road.
Another North Knoxville shooting
A previous resident of a home on Hiawassee Avenue returns to pick up the rest of her belongings at 3 in the morning. Her friend ends up shooting the current resident.
North Knox County shooting
Details are sketchy. Victim was shot in the head in his mobile home on Rifle Range Road. He is being treated for the head injury.

Could be. The KNS story has
Could be. The KNS story has changed since my comment. The quote from KPD Sgt. Shawn Neal indicating a "projectile slammed through the student’s driver side window and embedded in the dashboard" is no longer included in the story. It now references the "victim" saying, "he discovered a bullet hole in his dashboard". Did a KPD officer see a window shattered by a bullet and embedded in the dashboard or not? I was thinking it was a false report of road rage, but that a shooting did occur. We'll see.

Does it count as a shooting if no one was shot? Like in this case - if it turns out that it's simply a case of a car having a bullet hole in it, does it still count toward the total or does there have to be an injury involved? Or is this a log of crimes occurring in the county involving the discharge of a firearm and I've misunderstood the intent?

Shooting in Mechanicsville
Two vehicles and a house were struck by bullets fired near the Boyd Street and University Avenue intersection in Mechanicsville. One passenger in a vehicle was injured by shattered glass.

Another shooting at Magnolia Mart
This is the third reported shooting at Magnolia Mart in the past thirteen months. There was reported a fourth shooting in the same block of Magnolia Avenue in October 2010.
Lonsdale area shooting
It is being reported a woman was shot in the Texas Avenue area of Lonsdale. She then drove herself to the Krystal on Western Avenue for help.
Fifth shooting in May, 2011
A man was seriously injured by multiple gunshots "near the intersection of McConnell St. and Bethel Ave."

Sixth shooting in May, 2011
A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in the Austin Homes neighborhood on W. New Street.

Seventh shooting in May, 2011
Knoxville Police are investigating a home robbery in South Knoxville, at West Young High Pike. A man at the residence was shot in the leg.
2nd shooting near Love Kitchen
A 33 year old man was found in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. early this morning with gunshot wounds to both legs.
2nd shooting where both of victim's legs were shot
Early Saturday morning a 34-year old man was found in the 1900 block of Minnesota Ave., Lonsdale, with gunshot wounds to both legs.
1st reported West Knoxville shooting in 2011
Yesterday evening a man was shot leaving a store near the intersection of N. Peters Road and Town and County (near Nixon's Deli and Batteries Plus). The victim was shot multiple times. The suspect escaped in a vehicle "described as either a silver or blue 4-door car, possibly an Infinity."
As noted in a KNS comment, the victim (Harold Otis Williams also known as Harold August Williams) had been accused of attempted first-degree murder in the December 2007 shooting of Trian Brishey Booker, Oak Ridge, and was accused of threatening some teenagers in Oak Ridge in 2010.
Shooting across the Street from Rock City ballpark
The drive-by shooting occurred just after 6pm at the Southmont Apartments, 1415 E. Moody Ave. The apartments are across the street from the Rock City ballpark and a City of Knoxville fire station.
A small silver (or blue) 4-door vehicle was reported at the shooting Monday evening in West Knoxville around the same time of day.
Shooting near Holston Hills
The shooting was reported on W. Sunset Rd. around 2:45AM, 6/24/2011. The victim "has been uncooperative and does not want anyone prosecuted for his injuries."
The victim of a shooting in West Knoxville on June 13 was also described as uncooperative and an East Knoxville victim of a shooting on June 2 did not want to cooperate. What's the deal?

August 25th, in a parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on Cedar Bluff Road in the City of Knoxville, west of Cedar Bluff and south of I-40, three people allegedly mugged an off-duty Union County deputy. He fired at the suspects

Drive-by shooting in West Knox
A person was shot around 11:15PM August 31st during a drive-by shooting at Woodlands West apartments on Cairn Circle between Walkers Springs Road and Bridgewater Road, north of I-40/75.

When I first moved to Knoxville in 1977, I lived in this complex. My brother and his family lived there too.
I didn't even know the
I didn't even know the apartment complex was there in the 70s and I lived in Knoxville then, athough in South Knoxville and we did not cross the river often.
It was a different name,
It was a different name, which at the moment I can't remember, and was fairly new. My brother worked at the the Kroger at Walker Springs and I was in my first year at UT, having transferred from Roane State. It was really nice then. My niece, who turned 35 last week, turned a year old while they lived there. It was good times. Things have certainly changed.

I believe that was the name of the complex in the late seventies. After my parent's divorce, it was one of several places I "lived".
Fifth shooting at 2400 block of Magnolia Ave. in 16 months
This shooting resulted in the Knoxville Police Dept. killing a man in the exchange of gunfire.
This shooting was at the Magnolia Cafe, which is across Magnolia Avenue from Magnolia Mart, which was closed earlier this month by the Knoxville Police Dept. as a public nuisance. There had been three shootings at the Magnolia Mart in the past 16 months and an additional shooting at an unidentified location in the 2400 block of Magnolia Avenue.

This is the second shooting at the same address, 2415 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Two men with gunshot wounds arrived at hospital emergencey rooms early this morning. This shooting is very similar to the May 1, 2011 shooting, e.g. same location, early morning, two men.

A ceremony was recently held at this park to rename it Paul Hogue Park from Union Square Park.
Death by handgun at local residence
A man visiting a 24 yr old woman at the home of another man in North West Knox County was shot by the 49 year old homeowner. The homeowner reports the woman was his girlfriend. He also says the visiting man "became aggressive and threatening" after being confronted by the homeowner. The homeowner "has a permit for the gun".
Drug buy gone bad
A young man was shot in the back while trying to buy cocaine reportedly in the Western Heights area. He couldn't really tell officials where he was at the time of the shooting.
Copa Parking Lot Shootings
Suspect wearing black hoody fired shots in the Copa Cabana parking lot from a moving vehicle around 3:15am this morning. Several bystanders wounded, 1 victim is in critical condition at UT Medical Center. Where was KPD @? Why has this story not been reported on the news. It's pathetic when an individual decides to spray bullets anytime, when will people stop acting a fool. Some one is going to killed in situations like this.
Boyfried steps in to break up fight, gets shot
Late Thursday night (11pm), a fight broke out at a home on Meadow View Road in East Knoxville. Police have the suspects and are trying to determine who might face charges.
Just over a year since last shootings at Copa Cabana club
Three a.m. Saturday morning a shooting happened at the Copa Cabana club, injuring four people one of which was injured seriously. No one has been arrested as of this report.
Just over a year ago, June, 2010, "two juveniles face charges of reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, curfew violation and vandalism after police say shots were fired early Friday outside a South Knoxville club [Copa Cabana]."
Person shot to death on Magnolia Avenue
It is being reported that at 11:59 p.m. on October 1 one man was shot to death and another injured at 1420 E Magnolia Avenue, one block west of Pellissippi State College.
Update: the wounded person told police he was being robbed and in the struggle the robber was shot and killed.

Late yesterday a man was shot on McConnell Street East of town in the Walter P Taylor Homes housing complex. KPD reports the victim is refusing to assist the investigation.

A man gets shot while trying to interfere with apartment break-in near Old Kingston Pike and Colony Way. Teens may have been involved.
9th shooting in 10 days
It's being reported that a 75 yr old man was shot in West Knox County by his 48 yr old wife during her attempt to intervene in an argument he was having with her son. The son was arrested on charges from Loudon County.
Late reporting, shooting in North West Knox County
A woman's husband and father were both shot in an altercation with another man at their house on Ball Road, off of Oak Ridge Highway.
Shooting during home invasion
A man living on Chickamauga Ave. in North Knoxville was shot this morning. A woman called to borrow money and when he opened his door robbers rushed in shooting the man in the process.
12th shooting in 15 days
Local news is reporting a 19 yr old man (ex-UT student) was killed and a 21 yr old man (current UT student) was wounded during a shooting near the UT campus at the Grand Forest Apartments, corner of Grand Avenue and 17th Street.
KGIS doesn't even show the
KGIS doesn't even show the reported address of 1725 Grand Avenue. It does show a large building at 1727 Grand owned by Thunderroad Properties located in Knoxville.
Through the years there has been crime in the Fort Sanders area. You'd think with the proximity to the University and town they would have made it safe by now.

Someone would have to work harder to find the owners. There is no address listed with KGIS, just a 37950 zip code. In addition, with the State of TN Secrectary of State corporate filing the only listed they have for Thunderroad Properties (ID #349380) has been inactive since 2000, due to merger. Their last address was 2601 Western Avenue.

Shooting on the East Side of town
A man says he was shot at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Wilder Place in East Knoxville around 10pm.
Another shooting on Wilder Place, East Knoxville
Another man said he was shot while driving near the intersection at Dandridge Avenue and Wilder Place.
KPD is investigating whether the two shooting incidents on Wilder Place within a few blocks are related.
Geez, another shooting on the North side of town
Police "say a man was found shot in the chest in the 13 hundred block of Alliance Drive", Western Heights, around 2:30am Friday.

A man called 911 to report he had been shot. " It happened in the 9100 block of Brownlow Newman Lane", way East near the Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge.
What's going on? It's like the wild west out there.

October 29, 2011, a man was shot in the leg while in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store in Five Points at the corner of McCalla Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

November 7, 2011, one man is dead from a shooting that occurred around 3:40AM on Better Tomorrow Drive, Western Heights area.
Shooting death on the East side of town
November 9, 2011, within blocks of the Knoxville Police Department, Green Elementary Magnet School, and the Knoxville Coliseum, a man was shot and later died. The shooting was reported at the Arbor Place Apartments, 390 S. Hall of Fame Drive.

KPD is investigating a shooting that happened around 3:30AM, Nov. 10, 2011, at Cedar Springs Apartments (corner of Gallaher View and Gleason Road) in West Knoxville.
Shooting victim found on Selma Ave, East Side
A woman found a "deceased person" in her yard early Saturday morning, Nov. 12, 2011, just after midnight. The victim had been shot multiple times.
Walmart shoplifter pulls gun on police, shot
On Nov. 15, 2011, at around 6:45PM, as a suspected Walmart shoplifter was being interviewed by Knoxville police, he pulled a gun and was subsequently shot and killed by police. The Walmart was at 7420 Chapman Highway in South Knoxville, near John Sevier Highway.
Man shot at Walter P. Taylor Homes, East
On the evening of Nov. 17, 2011, a man reportedly looking for his niece at Walter P. Taylor Homes in East Knoxville ended up shot in the jaw.
Man shot at home in West Knox
It's being reported a man entered the home of another man at the 3600 block of Dance Avenue and shot the resident in the leg. The shooting occurred around 8:45PM, Saturday evening, Nov. 19, 2011.
The shooter was described as a white male and drove a gray mini-van.
Eighth reported shooting in November, 2011
November 23, 2011, at 2811 Linden Avenue in East Knoxville, a shooting occurred around 9:30 PM. A dog was caught in the crossfire and killed. No people were injured.
Another shooting in November, 2011
November 30, 2011, at an apartment complex located at 2733 Magnolia Avenue, WBIR is reporting a gun discharged while a juvenile male was "pistol whipping" his mother. His girlfriend was shot in the leg.
Man shot in head during robbery attempt
Dec. 3, 2011, a masked man attempted to rob a man as he was getting out of his car at home on Cecil Johnson Road in West Knoxville. They struggled and the attacker shot the victim in the head.
Another Man shot at Walter P. Taylor Homes, East
Around 5 pm, Sunday, December 18, 2011, a man sitting on his porch on S. Olive Street in the Walter P. Taylor Homes neighborhood, was shot by a man after a brief confrontation.
Home invasion, North Knox County
Three men, two of which had guns, wearing dark hoodies and clothing items over their faces entered a home at 9616 Norris Freeway in North Knox County Monday, December 19, 2011, around 6 pm. One of the four people at the home was shot.
Attempted robbery, East Knoxville
It's being reported a woman was shot in the arm during an attempted robbery at 212 Pelham Road, Lot 6, in East Knoxville.
