A Women's Caucus held Tuesday was an inspiring event. Many women volunteered their time to speak on the possibilities of success, the need for equality, and to encourage women to speak up, vote, and run for office. There appeared to be about 500 women in attendance.

When I arrived Sheila Johnson was concluding her presentation. She is co-founder of Black Entertainment Television and the first black woman to own three professional sports teams.

Cecile Richards, daughter of Ann Richards, was exceptional, as was Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War Veteran. Please excuse the video, a lot was going on in the room.

Cecile Richards was inspiring as was her mother. Excerpts from Cecile Richards speech:

"If you liked George Bush, you're going to love John McCain. He has voted against women's healthcare 125 times... John McCain has vowed to appoint Supreme Court justices that will overturn Roe v Wade... Five men in black robes don't know better than women what's better for their healthcare... Women voting for John McCain is like chickens voting for Col. Sanders."

Additional speakers included Debbie Stabenow (Democratic U.S. Senator from Michigan), Niki Tsongas (Democratic U.S. House Representative from Massachusetts), Grace Napolitano (Democratic U.S. House Representative from California). All of which work hard for the people, their states, and their country.

Fran Drescher also spoke briefly. She is a cancer survivor and an advocate for the women's movement. Fran asks, "Let's not make this a single issue election. Let's elect someone who will not legislate a woman's body".

How often is it a person can be inspired by so many strong, bold women in one location? Thank you ladies.
