Senator Clinton is clearly the target of most right-wing campaign rhetoric. At last night's debate, she said that this is because she has waged such an effective fight against the Republican agenda--i.e., they are attacking her because she is a thorn in their side.
Senators Obama and Edwards countered by suggesting that the GOP may want to run against her because they think they can beat her.
Which do you think is the better explanation?

Option C: Because they
Option C: Because they continue to suffer from Reflexive Clinton Hatred.
(Much is made of "Bush Derangement Syndrome," but at least that 24% approval-gettin' mother*ucker earned his god-awful reputation.)

I agree with Andy. I think
I agree with Andy. I think some of it is just reflexive. And I think they're very, very scared of running against Hillary.

Yes
Part of it may be that they've had 15 years of practice going against the Clintons and think they have a well-developed playbook.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
earned his reputation
That's true. The only thing Hillary earned is sympathy for being married to Bill.
Can we go in between and
Can we go in between and say: because they think she will be the nominee and want an early start whoopin on her plus Hillary bashing does for the R's base what Bush bashing does for us? (Of course ours is based on truth and logic whereas...)
I'm thinking that they have
I'm thinking that they have decided that Hillary is going to be the nominee, and since they can't attack the policies with rationality, they attack the candidate.
This is pretty funny because in all seriousness, Hillary is the closest Democrat to the Republicans. You'd think she would be their pick.
The same reason they're
The same reason they're obsessed with Islamophobia, homosexuals, George Soros, climate scientists, the librul press, etc. etc. etc.
Take a heap of bogus facts, mix them with Oedipal anxiety and half-bake them at 400 degrees for 40 years and voila.
I would vote (c) neither. I
I would vote (c) neither.
I think the reason they're revving up the anti-Hillary machine is because their only chance at defeating her is to fire up as far in advance as possible all the hatred and fear their base has for another Clinton White House.
Character assassination and fear mongering appear to be staples of any political system.
Character assasination
How do you assassinate something that is already dead?
The Repigs want a
The Repigs want a Hillary/Whoever election because whoever wins is a win for them.
Hillary is a corporate whore and will continue the neo-con agenda. When she claims to "want change" she's a liar. She will change nothing.
Hopefully the Democratic voters aren't stupid enough to give the Pigs what they want.... A Republican/Republican-Lite election.
"The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open."
Not Over BUT,,,
Women are at the base of Hillary's vote.In every nook & cranny of this country members of Democratic Women's Clubs have been waiting years to elect her president.
The fear of all these boyz is that women everywhere vote big for Hillary & kick em all to the curb.
They hate the Clintons because they can't destroy them
They tried so hard, oh, they tried so VERY hard to slime the Clinton's, to defame them, to cover them with all kinds of slimey muck, but none of the bad stuff stuck. Bill is still sought after as a speaker. He has been applauded for his charity work. His wife didn't leave him. Now the Republicans are aghast to see her rising in 0popularity and also possibly living back in the White House with Evil Bill. It must seem to them the Clintons are like one of those plastic punching bags kids have, the harder you try to knock them down, the more they spring back.
That alone (the right back
That alone (the right back atya and in your face aspect) would be a reason to support Hillary.
(Not sure government ought to be a ping pong match, though. Maybe a mediation would be better.)
A mediation only works if
A mediation only works if both sides agree to participate.

Hillary
'The fear of all these boyz is that women everywhere vote big for Hillary & kick em all to the curb.'
Yep. And also they can't stand the thought of having Bill back in the White House. And there's yet another reason to support Hillary.
