Y'all may have noticed that we've been MIA for a while. We've been on a road trip and are on our way back to Tennessee. Here's a view of one place we visited. Anyone recognize it? (Click image for larger view).

Where ever it is, I'm
Where ever it is, I'm jealous. I want to kayak around those islands and surf the ferry wake.
I'll bet there's fish cakes for breakfast in the area.
Far enough north for trees
Fall lasts for about two weeks in AK, and somewhere around the first of September.

Heh. Not quite THAT long of
Heh. Not quite THAT long of a road trip, Metulj.
(Hint: Elevation of photo vantage point about 1500 feet. The cruise ship is about three miles away as the crow flies. If anyone didn't notice, those little dots on the land in front of the cruise ship are a town. Cruise ships are pretty massive.)
eh?
Nova Scotia, eh?
Well it's obvious from the
Well it's obvious from the name of the jpg file this is Octpano2, CT.
Seriously, it's baffling with Fall colors, a cruise ship, and the distant landmass looks desert-like.
Mello is close, but a border
Mello is close, but a border too far. Fletch, I think, is closest with his cryptic comment about desert-like.
It's the view of Bar Harbor from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia NP on Mount Desert Island in Maine. A pretty spectacular view of which this photo can't do justice.
I thought I saw a Canadian
I thought I saw a Canadian flag on the ship!
Ah! I can almost smell the delicious ocean smell...
Hey, it's not very fair to tease us in the middle of this dreadful drought. Isn't the air up there a true elixir? Pine trees and a sapphire blue ocean full of clean water--argh! I can't wait to go home to Western Massachusetts for an old-fashioned Christmas in the foothills of the Berkshires.
But then of course I will also be glad to be back here. I'm very fond of Knoxville.
Carole, all of NE is pretty
Carole, all of NE is pretty awesome. We especially liked Vermont (where we didn't spend enough time) and Maine.
By the time we got to Cape Cod they had rolled up the sidewalks for the season and the fog and cold and rain had rolled in. Looks like a fun place for the summer, though, except I bet it's crowded.
Careful, Bubba, you're playing a dangerous game
The last time I tried to play the "where am I" game on my blog, two women correctly guessed the location and then demanded a prize. When they said they expected the prize to be chocolate, I knew I had better pay up or face serious bodily harm. I've learned you don't stand a chance standing between women and chocolate.
Heh. I guess I owe Fletch
Heh. I guess I owe Fletch some chocolate (in addition to many beers for all his photo tips and help). He can share with mello, his option.
I'm Jealous Too
Several years ago Stamats Video published three National Parks Laserdiscs, one about the Smokies, one about Olympic, and one about Acadia. All three were stunning in what was then the state of the home video art. Of course they are now out of print. I have transferred mine to DVD.
Seeing those views 'live' has to be a breathtaking experience.

Randy I did a Google earth
Randy I did a Google earth search and it looks like you may have taken the picture at this location 44° 21'11.15"N 68° 13'29.80"W while looking north north east.
It appears to be about 3 miles from the location of the ship and 1500 feet in altitude. Although it isn't very clear on my map, it looks like the road or trail going up to where the picture was taken, was on the south side of the hill. If anyone wants to see the location just copy and paste the longitude and latitude in Google Maps or Google Earth. You will need to pan out to see the area clearly.

Wow, that photo looks
Wow, that photo looks horrible on my desktop monitor!
UPDATE: Uploaded a different version. Looks better on my monitor. Not sure about your monitor, though. We need Federal Regulation of monitors.
Beautiful!
Welcome back. I'm sure it was great to get away. We gotta put that area on our list.
Fall Vacations
Fall vacations have always been a favorite of mine. I'm jealous.
