It is a stupid plan with dubious immediate benefits. Now is probably a great time to work out a way to create/expand/enhance alternative energy industry. It would be a slower sort of effect but would strengthen the economic foundation of the nation in the long run. Bush's plan is the political fix. It amounts to another tax gift to Wally world and will do nothing for the nation in the long run.
I can sorta deal with Bush being an idiot, it is useless to be mad at a dog for biting or a snake for striking, that is just what they do. But Bush's advisers surely can't all be as clueless as he is, can they? Does he give them a test that they have to fail to work at the WH?
I wish this was happening in a country I didn't like so that I could at least be amused by it.

Boy, shades of pre-9/11 George W. Bush -- every time he opened his mouth, the stock market would tank. This was when "Kenny Boy" was doing his best Colonel Klink impression and about every 30th NASDAQ listing was on the front pages for fraud, misaccounting, etc.
