I'm going to seize the opportunity to hijack the discussion. After all, I work for the government.

If you, or someone you care about, has dealt with cancer at some point in their lives, comedian Robert Schimmel has a book titled Cancer on $5 a Day (*chemo not included).

It is NOT suitable for anyone with delicate sensibilities, but it's a pretty personal glimpse into his experiences, and is outrageously funny (and sufficiently profane that many would regard it as offensive). At the same time, it is often very, very moving. It's a good read.

Great book

I was reading passages to a friend while she was getting chemo. We were both laughing so hard that we were tearing and causing quite a spectacle. We were then able to share parts of the book with others. It is also a glimpse into the male ego.

One reviewer agrees

It is NOT suitable for anyone with delicate sensibilities...

Yes, I note one reviewer at the Amazon site said she was glad she thumbed through it before planning to wrap it up for her Mom :-)

Thanks for the mention, both of you. I know someone who likely WOULD appreciate the humor and support right about now.
