Hmmm. According to the Washington Post, Republican candidates across the country are getting increasingly desperate and crafting more and more ludicrous yarns about their Democratic opponents:
In New York, the NRCC ran an ad accusing Democratic House candidate Michael A. Arcuri, a district attorney, of using taxpayer dollars for phone sex. "Hi, sexy," a dancing woman purrs. "You've reached the live, one-on-one fantasy line." It turns out that one of Arcuri's aides had tried to call the state Division of Criminal Justice, which had a number that was almost identical to that of a porn line. The misdial cost taxpayers $1.25.
.......................
Rep. Ron Kind pays for sex! Well, that's what the Republican challenger for his Wisconsin congressional seat, Paul R. Nelson, claims in new ads, the ones with "XXX" stamped across Kind's face. It turns out that Kind -- along with more than 200 of his fellow hedonists in the House -- opposed an unsuccessful effort to stop the National Institutes of Health from pursuing peer-reviewed sex studies. According to Nelson's ads, the Democrat also wants to "let illegal aliens burn the American flag" and "allow convicted child molesters to enter this country."
You know, I'm acquainted with some Republicans, and I don't know who these people are. But they're not the same Republicans that for many years protected air and water and guarded the country's financial resources. And the sooner they're gone, the better it will be - for Democrats, as well as Republicans.

Karl Rove Protege Terry Nelson & Sen. Tom McCain
In the behind-the-scenes hunt for 2008 campaign talent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has bagged a big one.
Terry Nelson, who served as national political director for President Bush's reelection race in 2004, has signed on as a senior adviser to McCain's Straight Talk America political action committee
Nelson was implicated in the infamous New Hampshire-phone jamming scandal [in 2002] and he was an unindicted coconspirator in the political money-laundering case which ended Tom DeLay's career
