Because a 9.25% sales tax on food is already unconscionable enough.

A meme is needed, ASAP
Somebody who knows how to make internet picture memes, here's your text:
____________________________________
Tennesseeans:
Vote NO on 3
[humorous eye-catching picture here]
Sales tax is high enough, already.
_____________________________________
This isn't about explaining everything. This is about reaching the low-information voter, who is agin' taxes.
As presented, #3 gives a false choice of income taxes or no income taxes. In reality, it's a choice of income taxes or other taxes (or potholes, filthy drinking water, uninspected, vermin-infested restaurants, and gas stations tweaking pumps to short their customers). Explaining that takes too much logic. For instance, I've already lost half the people who started reading this.
Anyway, somebody make a meme and get it out there. I'd do it, but I don't have the stuff to do it.
It makes no sense to support a double-digit sales tax
(in reply to lolcat)
If you want to look at a jobs killer and a definite detriment to doing business in Tennessee, just go ahead and impose a 13% sales tax.
Watch retail business flock to NC, KY, AL, MS, AR, and VA in border areas. And you can forget in-state major ticket purchases altogether.
I can think of no move that would be more anti-competitive for this state.
Here's one for #1
Tennesseeans:
Vote NO on 1
[insert scary politician picture here, preferably one who looks like a total pervert.]
Keep politicians out of your Dr's office.
Vote No on all four proposed amendments.
To quote Corporal Hicks from "Aliens", "It's the only way to be sure."
I have simplified the
I have simplified the Amendment vote meme to "Vote No"...Period!
I'm voting yes on 2. I don't
(in reply to WhitesCreek)
I'm voting yes on 2. I don't like the clause about the legislature confirming appts, but I'm 99.99% sure that if the amendment fails the legislature will then move to bring us elected appellate and Supreme Court judges.
And THAT really is a scary proposition.
I'm with you on that
(in reply to Rachel)
I'm with you on that Rachel.
Somethings up here.
(in reply to Rachel)
I agree with Rachel.
I also think gambling's O.K. and if they want to limit it to 501(3)(c) corps or disabled Vets or whoever thats o.K. too.
No on 1 though. That's not open for debate.
