You obviously have not followed Pennington's career, metulj. He is a winner and may I inform you as well that he won the 2006 NFL Comeback Player of the Year; don't count him out. But you are spot on about Erik's opportunity and Chad's weak arm.

I'm surprised Erik was drafted at all. During his time at UT he showed that he has a strong arm, but usually panics under pressure and overthrows the ball.

Hopefully Crompton will do better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Why focus on Tennessee's last pick....

Jerod Mayo was taken in the first round as the 10th pick overall. That's about 19 picks higher than projected. He did a terrific job showing the NFL scouts he had what it took.

Congrats to Brad Cottam too, who was taken in the 3rd round. Not bad for a guy who spent most of last year on crutches.

As for Erik, I hope he finds a niche and makes a team. He has good, not great, physical skills. Much of the NFL at quarterback is played above the neck. Being able to set the season record for completion percentage while playing Tennessee's SEC and national schedule is nothing to sneeze at. He had a few games which will be remembered for his mistakes. But, he won a lot more than he lost. It will be interesting to see how he performs.
