Verizon has cut the price of the Droid Razr MAXX to $199 with a two year contract. Just ordered one for the Mrs. The price includes a 16GB Micro SD card. Unfortunately they are now charging a $30 upgrade fee.
(I guess this means the quad-core Droid Razr HD with espresso maker and foot massager will announce shortly.)

It's nice when stores drop
It's nice when stores drop the price on the phones we use, but when the heck are they going to drop the price we pay? As noted by John, other developed countries provide much more service for a fraction of the cost (and don't forget to see the update that subsidizing phones is not a reason to gouge customers here in the US)
(Thanks Randy for giving me a platform to pass this on)
Yes, prices are outrageous. I
Yes, prices are outrageous. I think we are paying for their (U.S. company) infrastructure development and the explosion of data bandwidth usage. Europe is way ahead of the U.S. on that, so maybe they have already recovered their costs?
The difference is
government.
Actually government regulators that have forced competition, as opposed to deregulation that has resulted in corporate consolidation.
Note in that article where AT&T and Verizon support competition in the UK but NOT in the US.
It's a fascinating article. Definitely worth the read.
Isn't it the price we pay for
Isn't it the price we pay for freedom? /sarcasm off
nope, bizgrrl, it's the price
nope, bizgrrl, it's the price we pay for capitalism. /snark
Also a note on the RAZR MAXX
Also a note on the RAZR MAXX price cut: If you bought one in the last 30 days at the $299 price you should check with Verizon about a price match refund. Might get you $100 back.
