In January 2025, the newly elected President... declared a “national energy emergency” during his inaugural address.
“We will bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again right to the top, and export American energy all over the world,”...
Since he began his second term, the reserve’s volume has only risen by around 5%.
The U.S. is considering coordinating sales of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve with releases from other countries as prices soar during the war on Iran, the Energy Secretary said on Monday, 3/9/2026.

The current administration
The current administration ordered the release of 172 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve this week, making it the second-largest release from the reserve in its history after former President Joe Biden's 2022 withdrawal of 180 million barrels.
The release of oil, which will start next week and roll out over 120 days, would bring the nation's oil reserves to roughly 243 million barrels, down 41% from its current 415 million barrels. That would leave the strategic stockpile at its lowest levels since 1982, according to a CBS News analysis of data from the Department of Energy.
And
The CF (convicted felon) now allows Russia to sell its oil, overturning sanctions and allowing Russia to rebuild its economy. He really does work for Russia and Israel!
