Americans are living longer than ever, but not as long as people in 41 other countries.

Life expectancy ranks 42nd of 222 countries.

Possible factors:
* 45 million Americans lack health insurance
* Nearly a third of U.S. adults 20 years and older are obese
* The U.S. has the resources that allow people to get fat and lazy
* Racial disparities
* Relatively high infant mortality rate

Health Care Hoax

I suppose that must be why people from other countries continue to come here for major surgeries?

I get really tired of seeing that BS 45 million figure tossed about. As far as I've seen it's really more like 8 or 9 million, with at least 12 million of that 45 being illegals, several million more being folks who have changed jobs and are in the waiting period for their new policy and several million more being folks who could afford health insurance and choose not to buy it. None of those categories should warrant my tax dollars going to pay for their health care.

I believe the lowered life expectancy in America (that's NORTH America for those of you who don't know the difference) is the sedentary, crappy food filled lifestyle that most of us enjoy. Our health care system is focused mainly on treatment and not prevention. That and the lifestyle choices that many of us make, IMHO, is the main problem as far as life expectancy.

Let's all just go back to sleep

Rich people come to the US for health care because we have The Best Health Care System in the World. Too bad about that Dana Carvey thing. (link...)

No American really lacks health coverage. After all, if they get sick, they can go to the emergency room. Verily, our Godly President hath said so, so it must be true.

Lo, the Invisible Hand moveth all.

There, that settles it. Now everyone go back to sleep.
