I don't think I'd compare Ragsdale to Nixon
Vandy Vate sure picks an interesting ajective, most people, in my opinion, see more similarities between Nixon and Ragsdale than they see differences.
What do you think people's reactions would be if Ragsdale actually stood in front of a bank of cameras and said, "I am not a crook"?
What do you think people's reactions would be if Ragsdale actually quoted Nixon and said "A public man must never forget that he loses his usefulness when he as an individual, rather than his policy, becomes the issue"?
What if Ragsdale really followed Nixon's theory and further quoted Nixon "It's a piece of cake until you get to the top. You find you can't stop playing the game the way you've always played it"?
Nixon also said "People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I'm not a crook. I earned everything I've got", would love to hear Ragsdale chant that one. The citizens of Knox County have bought everything Ragsdale has or has eaten, consumed, or drunk over the past 6 years.
Nixon once said "Politics would be a helluva good business if it weren't for the goddamned people", in my opinion Ragsdale says that everyday.
And Nixon said "It is necessary for me to establish a winner image. Therefore, I have to beat somebody". Look at Ragsdale's political career, who has he really beaten in politics? Nobody.
some old man
He beat some old man to win election to county commission the first time. I don't think the guy could hear or maybe see.
Let's Hope Rag$dale runs for govenor in 2010
We haven't seen a nice big campaign greasy spot in the middle of Interstate 40 since Victor Ashe sought the U.S. Senate Chamber against Albert Gore and that was about as sad an effort as one could imagine.
Rag$dale would be hardpressed to carry Knox County against any of the purported Republican candidates lining up in the primary, let alone any Democrat in the General Election.
Saddest thing is Rag$dale doesn't have a clue as to where his credibility/popularity/confidence numbers are right now. You would think that a thermonuclear petition for divorce from one of Knoxville's nastier domestic demolition experts would wake him up, but it hasn't phased him.
Maybe we should set the fazers on kill instead of stun.
