The following U.S. Representatives from Tennessee do not believe women should have the right to be paid the same as men for doing the same work:
Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN1) - NO
Rep. Jimmy Duncan (R-TN2) - NO
Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN3) - NO
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN7) - NO
They all voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. What's even more ridiculous is that all the bill does is remove a sixth month statute of limitations that prevents women from filing discrimination claims when they find out they are getting paid less than male co-workers for the same work.
It doesn't force anybody to do anything. All it does is give women the same rights minorities already have in pay discrimination cases.
In case you're not familiar with Lilly Ledbetter, here's her story. She gave powerful testimony at the Democratic National Convention in August. Here's the text of her remarks. Here's a video.

I'm so glad that someone
I'm so glad that someone pointed this injustice by our state U.S. Republican Congressmen. Representative Wamp and Rep. Blackburn are running to become the Republican nominee seeking to get elected to the Governorship of the State of Tennessee. The Chattanooga Times/FreePress Sunday edition shows the specifics of each bill voted on by the House and Senate and how area Congressmen voted on each one. I'm not sure if the KNS Sunday edition provides this info, if so I must have missed it last Sunday.
Let Blackburn run...
and if she wins, pay her less than Phil Bredesen was getting...and don't tell her until her term is up. See how she likes it then.

Statement from the GOP
"Well, now, we can't let the little women get paid the same as men, can we? Iffen we do that, purty soon, they'll thank they're just as good as men, and then they'll be wantin' big important jobs. Maybe even Vice-President. Errr. Nevermind. Millie, bring me a beer. Better make it a six pack." -- the GOP

Good thing it passed
I can't imagine what their logic was for voting against this.
The GOP party line is that
The GOP party line is that it will invite "frivolous" lawsuits.
I know some of you like
I know some of you like Jimmy Duncan, but issues like this are why I just can't vote for him.
Still Waiting
I sent an email asking why. Still waiting for response.
and did you ask why he also
and did you ask why he also voted against schip?
Duncan's voting record is pathetic, but folks around here still think he's a swell guy.
