KNS reports that SeaRay is shutting down fiberglass boat production for the month of July due to declining demand. SeaRay management predicts rough sailing ahead for the company and the industry in general. (By way of Michael Silence.)
This past Friday, parent company Brunswick also announced 250 temporary layoffs at their Orlando-area Boston Whaler factory. They previously announced 400 permanent layoffs at a SeaRay facility in Merritt Island, FL, and closure of a Bluewater Marine plant in South Carolina.

Let's Hope They Are Only Temporary
Brunswick/Sea Ray closed its aviation division out at McGhee Tyson and their aircraft fleet based in Knoxville is for sale, so let's hope their actions in our business area are only temporary.

Are there any projected layoffs at Anderson News?
I keep hearing from a number of folks that work at Anderson News that there are layoffs coming. That is a home grown Knoxville business and a very large employer in the community.
The local government leaders should really look hard at who the for profit employers are in the community and quit trying to get everybody a gubmint job.
