Anyone else hearing about the Tea Party planned for Knoxville?
The phenomenon has been blogged by others more witty and caustic than me.
I'm disturbed to see that Commissioner Mike Hammond is listed as a speaker. He always struck me as extremely sane.
It goes without saying that he can speak wherever and to whomever he wishes, but his constituents may want to ask why he's pandering to this particular group of paranoids.
Me, I'm just trying to think of the best way to mock and confuse the tea-baggers.
Any ideas?

the best way to mock and
the best way to mock and confuse the tea-baggers
Hanging the "tea-bagger" moniker on them is a pretty good start. Those who get it will be mocked, others, well, just confused.

"A native of Hawkins County, Mike graduated from the University of Tennessee and is the Director of Operations for Citadel Broadcasting of Knoxville."
Doesn't this mean they must hate America?!
I didn't know this had any truth behind it relative to the tea-bagging stuff. But it does pay homage to my favorite wingnut stereotype.
I don't get it
What is tangible thing is this brouhaha supposed to accomplish?
I checked the About page and it's just a few talk radio platitudes strung together.

I'd rather be cycling.

Hammond is an empty suit.
I gave up on him years ago when he hooked up with some Arkansas "Deep Throat" who had proof positive that Bill Clinton was a murderer and a drug runner. Hammond went out to meet him at some godforsaken crossroads, and had a live phone hookup with Hallerin Hill.
The end result was hilarious. Deep Throat, of course, never showed up. reminded me of Geraldo and Al Capone's vault.
Hammond has a great radio voice, so I guess some people think he has something to say that's worth listening to.
VERY seldom can I agree
VERY seldom can I agree with BB, but on this , I can and will agree with her 100% but don't forget that he can't get his G###y hands on any more of moran's records and he needs to beat briggs with face time (in case you hadn't heard there is going to be a new mayor real soon) and briggs and lumpy have a brown ring around their necks and of all people, for lumpy to knock briggs out shocks me! Counter-protest?
Its too bad that Organizing for America hasn't put together a national action to go up against the "Tea Baggers" (ha - I love that!)
Wonder what the left would do in opposition. Maybe a national day of community service or something? That would be fun. On income tax day, the whole country would see how the Republicans are out whining while the Democrats are all out volunteering and working.
Can somebody with a higher "Democrat security clearance" or whatever pass that one up the food chain? Cause it would be cool to see happen.
Oh well - maybe next year..?
rebels without a clue
So they're are using the socialist, federally funded trolly and bus system to get the armchair patriots to the anti socialism party? I don't think you'll have to do anything to mock them, they'll take care of that themselves.
At the bottom of their blog,
At the bottom of their blog, the blog engine tag reads: "Powered by Simple1.net".
Made me chuckle. "From the mouths of footers..."
Oh, you shouldn't encourage me
I am such a naughty boy. I just posted on a right wing message board,
I should be ashamed of myself. But I'm not.
Voting is like driving. If you want to go backwards, select R. If you want to go forward, select D.
Rebels without a clue II
It gets better. So they are using public transportation on public roads, using pubic parking to go to a public park while using the public Internet tubes (funded with federal dollars) to hear a government representative complain about public spending.
Let them protest away. It's
Let them protest away. It's their right. It's also their right to make themselves ridiculous with the "teabagging" references.
I must say I'm very disappointed that Glen Reynolds isn't listed as a speaker. I mean, he's been pushing these protests like all get out and this is his home town and all.
Perhaps a movement needs to be started to get Glen there.
Equal distribution?
If the tea partiers were protesting the distribution of our tax dollars to the beneficiaries of AIGs bad gambling debts I'd be right behind them. Seems like they are barking up the wrong tree. Guess they don't run into the beneficiaries of our corporate welfare at the grocery store so they conveniently forget the massive toll they take on our national budget.
