The U.S. Supreme Court has told Bush that his offshore detainee prison camps are unconstitutional and illegal. For the third time.
Dissenting Justice Antonin Scalia said "It will almost certainly cause more Americans to be killed."
If you want more Justices like Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court, be sure to vote for John McCain.
Or if you prefer Justices such as Anthony Kennedy, who opined that "The laws and Constitution are designed to survive, and remain in force, in extraordinary times," well, you know what to do.

Mr. Original Intent sure has
Mr. Original Intent sure has a @^!%*ed-up notion of persuasive precedent.
I kept telling people who
I kept telling people who though there was no difference between Bush & Gore in 2000 to think about the Supreme Court. It's even more evident now, given Bush's appointments.
When I say it, most people think I'm referring to Roe. Roe is important, but there is much, much more at stake here.
I kept telling people . .
I repeated the same mantra to one and all but I felt I was preaching to KNS Kommenters.

I just had to see this again.

OK, now I'm confused...
Randy -
I have to admit a bit of confusion here. You want me to vote for a POTUS who would appoint justices like Kennedy?
Who appointed Kennedy again?
Ah, so you want me to vote for Reagan...
Cheers,
Rob
Heh. Except I think he's
Heh. Except I think he's terminally term limited.
Campaign Issue
If this ruling by 5 activist Justices was so great, let's see how much Obama talks about it out on the campaign trail.....he won't utter a peep. People will be pissed to know that the terrorists that our military pick up on the battle field have been given the same rights as all of us. They'll be able to clog up our court system at taxpayer cost.
Very dangerous precedent..........We could just chop their heads off. That's their justice system.

Very dangerous precedent..........We could just chop their heads off. That's their justice system.
So you're saying it would be a good idea for the United States to adopt a terrorist justice system?
We could just chop their
We could just chop their heads off. That's their justice system.
I don't suppose it's necessary to point out the inconsistency in this line of thinking.
Anyway, if they were "picked up on the battle field" then they are POWs, and have a different set of rights, whether you like it or not.
When's the last time........
Neal, when's the last time POW's had the right to challenge their captivity in our court system. That's what I mean.....unprecedented.
Hey Rach, chill out. I was making a point about head chopping. That's what they do. We now give them a day in court..............
tin cup, where did I say
tin cup, where did I say POWs had a right to challenge their captivity in court? I said they had "different" rights.
The detainees at Guantanomo have NO rights. That's what's unprecedented. Now you can argue whether they should or shouldn't on some moral or ethical or patriotic grounds, but the fact remains that the U.S. still recognizes basic human rights, whether criminal, civil, POW, or whatever.
Except in this case.
Please try to keep up.
Hey Rach, chill out. Don't
Hey Rach, chill out.
Don't call me Rach. I hate being called that, and I didn't give you permission to do so. Only two people have ever been allowed to call me that, and one of them is now dead.
BTW, you chill out.
