Earlier today I read a column by my buddy E.J. Dionne Jr., claiming that Biden needs to be Obama's VP because of his national security experience. (link...)

EJ has always liked Biden, and I think he's a little biased. Read it and decide for yourself.

Now, Gov. Strickland of Ohio (no relation, BTW) is on All Things Considering swearing he will work hard for Obama, but that he has no desire to be VP. There's no audio yet, but it will be here later: (link...)

BTW, Obama was on earlier in the show. I only caught the end. He said gas will never be $2 again, and that he has no dog in the NBA championship tourney this year because he's a Bulls fan. He holds out hope for the Bulls next year.

$2.00 gas

If he has his way the tax on gas will be more than $2.00

Biden would be a mistake as

Biden would be a mistake as veep, no matter what his experience. He's a long-time Washington insider, but his national reputation outside of political junkies is mainly negative (cribbing the Neil Kinnock speech). He brings nothing electorally on a national basis, and Delaware's EVs are not going to make the difference. And then we're down a marginal Senate seat.

Liberty and justice for all.

Yeah, I'm not a Biden fan

Yeah, I'm not a Biden fan either. And aside from that, more important than that, is the Senate seat. I thought EJ had learned better, but sometimes he can be way off base.
