Cockfighting arrests in Middle Tennessee
DOWELLTOWN, TENN. (AP) -- Authorities in DeKalb County say they have broken up a cockfighting ring where thousands of dollars were being bet.
Police said they arrested ten men Saturday night, and among those watching the birds fight to near death were a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old.

They said bets were being placed at $100 per round, and authorities seized more than $5,300.
One rooster was nearly dead, and two others were injured.
DeKalb County authorities said they also found razor and needle spurs, bottles of vitamin B complex and cages used to transport the chickens at the scene.
Bail for those charged ranges from $2,500 to $4,000, and they are scheduled to appear in court next week.
Those arrested are from DeKalb, White and Warren counties.
