I took a Sunday stroll over the Great Smokies and up the Blue Ridge Parkway a bit today. The leaves are not quite peaked but are looking much better color-wise than the last few years. The image above was taken standing on top of "The Loop" tunnel just above the Chimneys trailhead. The red berries lower right are Jack-in-the-Pulpit fruit. I had to wait a very long time to get this short stretch clear of cars, and still managed to clip one at the very top. Oh well, I've created a gallery of today's pics at this link. Nothing special, just the usual sights along the way. Be sure to scroll right below the thumbnails to see all of them.

Nice

You have some nice photos in that gallery, Fletch. I especially liked the one of the motorcyclist emerging from the tunnel, and the vertically-oriented shot with that brilliant shock of red in the bottom of the frame.

Thanks, Fletch

I still want to visit that pedestrian tunnel near Clingman's Dome. My wife and I took your lead and went to Waynesville last year during Apple festival and liked it a lot. We're thinking about going this year on the 21st.

Hey, Les, why don't we just call each other assholes and get it over with. - Somebody on the old Southknoxbubba.net (if that was you, claim your quote and win net.fame!)

Thanks for the great pics.

Thanks for the great pics. Nature's beauty is a great antidote to the grim news coming out lately.

Be a blessing to someone today.
