There are just too many examples in Tennessee lately of complete idiocy from right wing nuts to cover them all but this one seemed to have special significance as I have seen similar behavior in our neighborhood.
A Nashville man says he and his 10-year-old daughter were victims of road rage Thursday afternoon, all because of a political bumper sticker on his car.
Mark Duren told News 2 the incident happened around 4:30p.m., while he was driving on Blair Boulevard, not far from Belmont University.
He said Harry Weisiger gave him the bird and rammed into his vehicle, after noticing an Obama-Biden sticker on his car bumper.

Weird. Nashville is supposed
Weird. Nashville is supposed to be the liberal part of Tennessee. We're always a little worried with our Obama bumper sticker in extremely conservative Blount County. However, the only time in Tennessee we had an incident was in Nashville, some woman shot us a bird and hollered something about our bumper sticker.
It wasn't easy getting to
It wasn't easy getting to this story. I got several 'Servers Too Busy' pages.
Eric Cantor would tell us that it's our fault for electing Mr. Obama. Had he not won the election, these same people could just point at us and giggle. I'm frankly surprised this doesn't happen more often here in Redneckia. I have often admired the few gutsy motorists I see wearing rainbow bumper stickers in Tennessee.
I had more trouble from my
I had more trouble from my "George Bush Empty Warhead" sticker than my Obama sticker.
Before I covered up the GWB sticker with a Ray Abbas sticker I had received large rocks through the windshield and both rear passenger windows.
Since covering it up I've gotten nothing.
The Obama sticker showed up about two years ago.
I guess we'll see how it wears.
I get the stink-eye from some
I get the stink-eye from some folks in South Knoxville for having an Obama sticker. No one has threatened me so far....at least not to my face.
I think that this man was deranged and angry before he saw that bumper sticker.
I wont mess around here and call names, but there are vitriolic elements to both sides of our political system. Both sides are looking for an opportunity to point their finger and scream "See how they really are!" I think that the only people that benefit from this are those with the victim mentality that feeds on pity and righteous indignation, and those that provide that needed attention. I'm sure that there is a veritable crap-storm brewing on the horizon.
Everyone is so damn pissy lately, and this piece of shoddy journalism is a prime example of the political climate. There was only one side given, and we are led to believe that this man went bonkers because of an Obama sticker without any effort given to find out what really happened (was the man taunted by the victim?).
If my car is hit in the near future, I will be sure to tear off my sticker to keep the shills from getting worked up.
"Idiot," "lunatic" labels are apropos
Oddly, in some other report I read on this incident, the victim was chastising people commenting on the story for calling the perp an "idiot" or a "lunatic" or some such.
I admire the victim for calling for a more peaceful, dignified dialog, but...I don't care what the perp's political party, anyone trying to run someone off the road--especially someone with a child in his car--is both an "idiot" and a "lunatic" in my book!
I would suggest, before you
I would suggest, before you suggest the victim might have brought this on himself, that you get better information than is provided in this local TV news story. There was at least one witness, a neighbor who didn't know either of them, and four criminal charges involved.
(link...)
look at the date that I
look at the date that I commented on this, then look at the date that the story ran.
Just a suggestion.
I still think that it is rotten 'We break the news' journalism.
I still think that it is
Maybe my own bias plays into this, that's generally what you should expect from TV news. It was a traffic story.
The Tennessean had an earlier story, but I linked this one because it answers your questions.
