I was cleaning out a part of our garage the other day and accumulated some not so usual things to recycle or dispose.

Mini propane tanks - was able to take them to the Blount County landfill. They have a special spot for propane tanks

Computers and accessories- City of Alcoa service center accepts a variety of electronic devices, not monitors or TVs.

Thin, flimsy plastic - Food Lion has large bins to accept thin, flimsy plastics (e.g. grocery bags, deflated shipping/packaging pillows) not accepted by the usual recycling centers.

Ammonia and various hazardous waste - Blount County recycling center accepted the Ammonia and old oil containers.

I did call around to confirm where I could take the different items. Even though it took a while to dispose of these items it felt good to get rid of everything in the appropriate spots.
