Damn, ya'll. Just damn.

Did you catch that crowd shot on CNN of Jesse Jackson in the crowd with tears streaming down his face?

I did. Very moving.

I did. Very moving.

I'm dreaming...

I'm dreaming of a Democratic Department of Justice and oh so many new Democrat federal prosecutors! An EPA that protects the environment and not the corporations! The Fairness Doctrine! Justice John Paul Stevens may actually consider retiring!

MDB's picture

And I'm dreaming...

...of an administration that honors the love my partner have for each other rather than uses the fear that we might actually legally formalize our relationship as a way to make sure their supporters can get to the polls.

...of an administration where my gay brothers and sisters in uniform don't have to live in fear of their career being ruined because of something that has no damn relevance to their ability to serve.

Let's not get TOO hopeful

You've heard the old cliche "you have to walk before you can run"?

Let's walk first, then run, then move on to "flying like Superman". ;-)

Sour grapes from repubs...

with the same old tired arguments...aka all their money will be taken or the country will go socialist or communist...the usual fear mongering persists among them although they should have learned those old lines are useless for them...

The people of the US wanted to be for something..and aren't motivated by always being told they needed to be against something or someone...
A message of hope...

So , although I am a certified pessimist...civilizations don't endure indefinitely...let's hope and pray Obama can help ours survive a while longer...

A hell of a night. I was

A hell of a night.

I was amused by the spontaneous gathering (celebration?) outside the White House this evening. I bet they could have rounded up a good group of volunteers to help the occupants move out early. Good riddance.

I'd rather be cycling.

I love it when a vote comes

I love it when a vote comes together. Awesome!

I have now been party to electing Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Very proud!

Weird. Florida: 70.8% of

Weird.

Florida:
70.8% of registered voters voted in this presidential election
61.4% of population are registered to vote
(99% of precincts reporting)

California:
56.8% of registered voters voted in this presidential election
(95% of precincts reporting)
47.3% of population are registered to vote

Californians weren't into it this year or the last 4% of precincts are really big.

I wonder...

... if, forty five years ago, as MLK was writing the "I Have a Dream" speech, he even dared entertain the dream that, within what should have been his natural life span, he'd see a black man elected President.

I just got goose pimples. I just pictured Doctor King in Heaven right now, standing next to Barack's grandmother, smiling and telling her, "you did good, my friend, you did good."
