Hm. Where would you most want to spend a post-primary evening?

From a sidebar in the Friday Tennessean:

Candidates for U.S. Senate will be in the Midstate and Chattanooga to await primary election results the evening of Aug. 3, some with special guests.

• Ed Bryant, Republican: Doubletree Hotel, 315 Fourth Ave. N., Nashville. Leaders from Tennessee Right to Life and Ben Cunningham, organizer for Tennessee Tax Revolt, expected to attend.

• Bob Corker, Republican: Sheraton Reed House Hotel, 827 Broad St., Chattanooga. U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp expected to attend.

• Harold Ford Jr., Democrat: Fundraiser at LP Field's Stadium Club West in Nashville with former President Bill Clinton. Live performance from Grammy Award winning, neo-soul singer John Legend.

• Van Hilleary, Republican: Doubletree Hotel, 1850 Old Fort Parkway, Murfreesboro. Some state legislators expected to be in attendance.

The GOP needs to hire some decent promoters or party planners, huh?

Rubbin' elbows with Tennessee Right to Life sounds like a real opportunity to disco, doesn't it? Or you could spot "a state legislator or two" in Murfreesboro with the Van Wagon set. ("Hey, isn't that Jimmy Eldridge?")

Say what you will about Democrats, we at least know how to throw a party!

Clinton fundraiser

Everyone I know is pestering me to death to buy tix to the Ford/Clinton event. They're $150 a pop, I think...Deal was it was going to be two separate events, the Clinton fundraiser and the victory party. Then the Big Dog's schedule changed.

(Gonna be out of town. It's a bummer.)

Too funny. Although I bet those Tennessee Tax Revolt boys know how to roll.

Rousing Game

And you can play a rousing game of "Eligible? Or Ineligible?" at Tennessee's only Crowne Plaza.

Knox GOP Party at Crowne Plaza

Hi All,

I've heard that the Knox GOP party at Crowne Royal is invitation only. Is that true? Or can any Knox GOP'er show up? I've been told that there is/will be an open bar and that the Knox GOP solicitates (and expects) donations - hence no riffraff, hence the swank locale. The person who told me all this is, to be charitable, "odd." BUT they've been right far more than they've been wrong. So I'm asking if any one out there knows for sure. Thanks!

Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!

Some in my Party like to have a party

My GOP primary victory party might be a little more fun than rubbing elbows with the usual lineup of boring pols. We're having our party at Brown's Diner. And you're welcome to come.
