"Oppenheimer" was shot on film -- IMAX-format film, in fact -- but it's not being projected from a film print in Regal's home town. Only 30 IMAX 15/70 prints have been made. One's going to Nashville (Opry Mills), one to Atlanta/Buford, and one to Newport KY.

Interesting. We heard it was in Imax and was not going to be available in Imax in Knoxville. Didn't realize there was a limited number available. We assumed the Imax theater in Knoxville was closed. Didn't bother to verify. That's just too bad.

Regal Pinnacle is showing it

Regal Pinnacle is showing it on the IMAX screen, but using a digital rather than film projector. The resolution and brightness are not the same. But they're still charging premium for the "IMAX experience."
