Rankin Restaurant is closing after 70 years. "We don’t do anything from a mix,” Donna said. “We do biscuits from scratch and gravy in a cast-iron skillet.”
The Original Louis' Restaurant since 1958
Litton's since 1962
Pizza Palace since 1961
Longs' Drug Store since 1956
Ye Olde Steak House since 1968
Sam & Andy's claim to be Knoxville's oldest restaurant. Open since 1946. However, this may be the only one listed not in their original location. I could be wrong.

The Mayor's policies
This is where Mayor Jacob's policies really hurt our community. What we are seeing happening is that the larger restaurant owners staying in business by cutting quality, raising prices and adapting to the labor market. Mom and Pop's, the folks working 60-80 hours a week who have been squeezed by larger conglomerates and the Mayor, simply can't survive. As I'm getting out, I'm watching this phenomena happen all over the County. If the Mayor had only listened to his own Health Department and Board of Health, we could have made this situation workable, instead of devastating.
