Keith Olbermann (and Chris Matthews) will not be anchoring coverage of the coming debates or election night. Their egos are causing a problem. During the DNC, on the first night Olbermann jumped on Joe Scarborough then the next night he apparently thought Matthews talked too much. Does anyone talk more than Olbermann? I don't think so. He primarily wants to espouse his views and doesn't care what others have to say. Olbermann must think he is still announcing sporting events.
At a panel discussion in Denver, Mr. Brokaw acknowledged that Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews had “gone too far” at times, but emphasized they were “not the only voices” on MSNBC, according to The Washington Post.
Is Olbermann the left's Bill O'Reilly? Nah. He did take it too far during the primaries in his rejection of the HRC run for the presidency.

Olbermann is an avid
Olbermann is an avid progressive, and a loyal democrat. He did reject HRC, but only in the last third of the primary when he believed HRC and her husband were hurting the Democratic Party.
For sure, Olbermann should not be anchoring presidential debates anytime soon, as he is a partisan - Of course, neither should Bill O'Reilly.

I like Olbermann, but I view him as a commentator, not a reporter/anchorman.
NBC made an appropriate decision in not letting him host debates.

He did take it too far during the primaries in his rejection of the HRC run for the presidency.
Olbermann certainly wouldn't do a worse job than Tim Russert or Brian Williams on that score, and they actually got the privilege of moderating NBC sponsored debates.
Is there some way we can also have Wolf Blitzer pre-emptively banished from these as well?

I don't agree. He may have a big ego and talk a lot, but he typically doesn't talk over the guests (like some hosts do).

I used to like Olbermann, and I still watch occasionally, but I think he's let success go to his head. He's just too full of himself.
David Gregory, OTOH, is a good example of what's wrong with most of tee vee political reporters - not interested in issues, just the horse race.
And no, Olbermann is not the left's O'Reilly. Olbermann is intelligent.
P.S. And Chris Mathews is a 12 year old.

that settles it.

I'm unsure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'm kind of undecided about how I feel about Limbaugh going after O'Reilly.
Half of me says when one of O'Reilly's fellow conservatives criticizes him, its got more credibility than Olbermann attacking him.
The other half of me says Limbaugh is just a blowhard attacking a rival.

Limbaugh going after O'Reilly
A couple of good Americans like them ought to settle it like Hamilton and Burr.
No business on air
Olbermann has no business being on MSNBC, NBC Sunday Night Football, or anywhere near NBC or any other network. The man was a troublemaker at ESPN, that is why he was let go. The best action for him to take would be to become a PR person for Obama and that way he could be as pathetic as he is but for the right reason.
Seeing how he has the
Seeing how he has the highest rated program on MSNBC, and a very highly rated program for cable news channels in general, I think he does hasve business being on the air. You just do not like him because he does not parrot the GOP talking points like Fox News, CNN, NBC and all the other main stream media.
BTW, what biased newsman quit his network to become a PR person for the GOP? Wouldn't that be Tony Snow? I love it when Republicans try to accuse others of what they themselves do. Olberman will criticize both parties. The problem is that reality has a liberal bias.
I don't like him for the
I don't like him for the same reasons I did not like him when he was with ESPN, he is more yap than anything else. I have no idea what you are talking about concerning the rest of your post since I was talking about Olberman only. I watch sports more than I do any network or cable news and that is my focus. Get a grip dude and don't tell me why I like or do not like someone.
I think Olbermann is a blow
I think Olbermann is a blow hard, even though I agree with him 99% of the time. His interview style sucks. He spends five minutes asking a question that expounds on his vast knowledge and superior reasoning ability, then asks the subject to agree. By the time he's done pontificating there's no time left for an answer.
That said, I think there's a place for MSNBC and shows like Olbermann to offset the Fox News propaganda network empire. (Did you hear Murdoch might be looking to buy the New York Times? Yikes!)
They should just package it as commentary, like Chris Matthews show, and not try to foist it off as journalism or news. The main NBC network should do that (or at least try) and there should probably be a firewall between the operations, which is what this move appears to be aiming for.
P.S. Looking forward to Rachel Maddow's debut on MSNBC tonight! Also, Air America has signed Ron Reagan for a talk show slot.
