Bill did the same thing
Back in '92 Bill Clinton jumped all over
Jerry Brown
For going after Hillary
It's on youtube
It says that if they are
It says that if they are having to go after the wife this early in the game, they have a big big problem.
Jerry Brown wasn't married so he didn't have to worry about turnabout, but with the baggage Cindy McCain has, you would think they would be smart enough to stay quiet on the wife thing. Hmmm...Maybe "smart enough" linked with Bill Hobbs answers the unspoken question.
Guess not.
That's What I Can't Figure Out
Why would they want to play "Who has the best wife?" I mean, talk about "elitism," if Cindy McCain were like most women, her antics would have wound her up in prison, not on the road to the White House.
well Aunt B, it was stupid
well Aunt B, it was stupid on the GOP's part, what with Cindy's current stubborn refusal to open up her tax returns, plus her embarrassing divestment from Sudanese companies last week. Looks like the TN GOP didn't think this one through. They're going to make Cindy McCain the issue.
John McCain is using public financing, so if Cindy is spending money flying her husband around, isn't that required under campaign disclosures? I don't think anyone should be picking on the nominee's spouses. But I do think Cindy, like Heinz-Kerry before her, should have to disclose their sources of income and their expenditures.
This isn't about "going
This isn't about "going after the wife."
It's about going after a "public statement" the wife made in public.
Is this going to be a pattern with Sen. Obama?
Everytime someone with his campaign makes a public statement that receives criticism will we hear "she's/he's off limits, because...?"
If she doens't want to receive criticism about what she says in public, then she should watch what she says in public.
Otherwise, as Sen. Clinton can tell her, it's fair game.
Actually...
It's about misrepresenting a statement Michelle Obama made, one that most of us actually agree with.
I'm not particularly proud of the actions on my country in several regards, race relations being one...violating the Geneva accords, another...and so on.
Now we have the opportunity to correct a good but of that.
(Uh..."wiggidy plonk"?)
Cindy McCain speaks publicly
Cindy McCain speaks publicly on behalf of her husband...helps finance his lifestyle and his campaign. so Gary, is she "fair game" too? Or is it just Hillary and Michelle? How about we think less about targets and tearing people down and more about building this country up?

Uh, you're talking about her aren't you?
Uh, Rocketsquirrel isn't a
Uh, Rocketsquirrel isn't a party spokesman, is he?

Rhetorical question. There's
Rhetorical question.
There's a substantive difference between "someone spouting off on a blog" and "someone spouting off on a blog under the color of authority."
One of these days when Hobbs pulls this "slander/rinse/repeat" act, he'll claim he was only speaking for himself.......

The question is whether
The question is whether Obama is saying all of TN GOP is "low class" or simply its leadership. Low Class in this context means "vulgar and crude"-- in medieval England this refers to people like prostitutes and thiefs. The TN GOP must feel really bad with this much mud all over them. They messed with the wrong guy-- a man of great intellect who comes from the abyss of Chicago politics. While it may be true no one in TN GOP may ever have been admitted to Harvard, Obama should treat people of low intelligence carefully. The National GOP will probably distance themselves from TN GOP. I hope that TN will not be targeted as a place where GOP became extinct. If anybody can do it, Obama can extinguish the party in that State. Let us see.
I guess Gary must have had
I guess Gary must have had no problem with John Kerry's (respectful) comment in 2004 about Cheney's daughter's public outing of herself as being gay. Or with those who criticized Bush and Cheney for calling a reporter an "asshole" "big time" while the two thought they were off mic.
Seems to me this is just about dirty politics. But "some" might not see anything wrong with smearing Obama's wife and then painting Obama as guilty by association to the smear.
Seems the Bush campaigns took everything of W's life that was embarrassing (i.e., nearly all of it) and arbitrarily called it off limits wholesale. And it worked. Now we know they govern the same way.
