I'll be a lab rat
Where some might see a catastrophe of Biblical proportions, I see uninterrupted sports viewing along with three sqaures a day; pizza, hot wings, pizza.
...sorry honey.
the kids are alright
Things may not be done the same way the mothers would do them, but the children and the homes will be just fine. Unless the culture in that community is very different from ours, this project is about 50 years late.
Ugh
As if dads aren't parents, too.
I'm surprised they're not calling it babysitting.
Disgusting.
I think the idea is funny.
I think the idea is funny. Nuts, but funny. We should do something like that here, but instead of taking the women out of the equation, we should remove all Vol sports, and leave the men sportless for the women to deal with.
Send the wives out of town
Send the wives out of town for a week?
Ummm... pretty please?!?
Like that is something new to me...
I have been the homemaker for 20 + years in
My marriage. My Wife as a scientist at ORNL for 23 years and last year retired from there to work in the private sector.
Since we have a special needs child and child care is just not available in this area for such a kid (Morgan is Autistic) I pay at the Grove theater in Oak Ridge just wasn't helping enough to matter.
I have been at home full time for about 10 years now.
I think it worked out pretty well, My older son and daughter ( well, we stole her from her drug addicted mom, who has since died) are both in collage and working.
The youngest kid we have, (him mom could not handle him, and we took him in because my wife didn't have enough stress in her life) is doing ok. If we could just get him to take school seriously..we would be in great shape.
I think Dads can do well, if taught how to do the jobs around the house. My father in law can tell you how a nuclear reactor works, designed computer systems, for the Gemini project, but has trouble understanding how the dishwasher works.....ohhh he can tell you the molecular structure of the basic metals involved, but actually getting the dishes inside and getting them clean....not so much...
But even after 20 years....My wife still folds the laundry....she hates the way I do it.....
No Matter Where you go, There you Are!!!!
My one-time partner was
My one-time partner was fairly functional when it came to housekeeping. However, I truly felt that he couldn't fold towels properly. He thought I was "persnickety" about the towels. Can you believe that?
Pam Strickland
"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." ~Kurt Vonnegut
This is not news where I live, although it is a little sexist.
I've been a stay-at-home dad with two daughters for several years. Mom leave? Your daddy's alright. We're all alright.
I really admire all the stay at home Dads
Having been a full time wife and mother for many years, I'm very aware of all the skills needed to be a homemaker. Guys who do this are often misunderstood by others and have a whole lot of personal challenges that we women are most often raised to consider part of every day life. My youngest son is a stay at home Dad, and I am so proud of the good job he is doing with the kids. He calls me as often as my daughter did when she had little ones at home to get advice or vent or just plain spend a few minutes talking grown-up talk. Stay at home dads rock in my book.
My father in law can tell

Quote of the day.
Dishwasher
This reminds me of many years ago, when I was separated from my first husband, who is a very smart, competent guy.
He called me long distance to ask me how to load the dishwasher.
That's too funny Rachael
I have a friend who says her husband of 20 years is constantly asking her "where she puts the lunchbags". Considering the fact the bags have been stored in the same place for years, she says she feels having to answer this redundant question is kind of like being waterboarded in her own kitchen.
I do think relying on one another can however be very sweet. It just shouldn't be taken too far.
I helped my first husband work on cars for decades. He could do anything. It was only after he was gone that I realized I hadn't really learned anything about mechanics. I also learned how expensive it is to have something as simple as having your oil changed done.
but has trouble
but has trouble understanding how the dishwasher works
At our home, this is how the dishwasher works:
I put the dirty dishes in the sink, put stopper in, fill with hot soapy water, wipe and scrub dishes, rinse, put in dish drainer.
Now, I'm hearing there's another way?
My advice, let men do it the old fashion way for a while, and when necessity dictates, like for large gatherings, operating those new fangled dishwasher contraptions won't seem like such a mystery.
Not really related, but its
Not really related, but its a funny story about ...something...
My wife is expecting our first child, and has been sent home from ORNL. I mean they actually got guards to take her home, (she kept remembering things she had to do because she was going to be home for 6 weeks)
Most women nest when pregnant, making the nursery clean, making quilts, the usual things women do, except my wife.
I was sent to get the supplies we need for the baby (the diapers, bottles ect) I knew something was up, because we had all that stuff already, but Mrs Thag insisted. When I got home, I first saw my mother in law on the porch with a very worried look on her face. Then I saw that our Van was jacked up in a rather unusual way. I was wondering what was going on when I pulled in a saw my 8 3/4 months preggers wife under the van changing the oil and doing a tune up. She had pulled the van over the dip just past the driveway, set up the ramps so that she had extra clearance so she could get her belly under the van to do the work.....
I nearly had a stroke....I told her to get out from under there right now....she of course refused asking if I could finish the job. Of course the answer was no...so she finished up and finally came in.
She told me that she knew we would be too busy to work on the Van, and that since it was her baby she would be driving around, Mrs Thag wanted everything perfect....
I guess that's what you get when you marry a missile head from Oak Ridge.
I was just happy she didn't try to install a MR Fusion .....
22 years later, I can still see her big belly sticking out from under the van...Oohh for a camera back then.....
Men facts

Some men often claim ignorance in order to have an excuse not to do something. Think about it. The only thing most women hate more than a man not doing something is having him do it the wrong way.
We know this. A lot of women are driven by the belief that "if you want something done right, do it yourself." So men fake ignorance, women do it themselves.
Children also use this tactic, and if you see a link, you're right.
