My little Miss Heidi died this morning. She had a cancer that had started in her injured leg and spread rapidly.
I want to thank the many friends who have expressed wishes for her recovery.
Her pain is over. Gino and I are going to the park now.

I am sorry for your loss
I am sorry for your loss. A truly beautiful dog. Losing a pet is always to hard, such that I think I won't get another... but I always do.
I'm so sorry to hear this.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Great picture. Relish the memories.
I know it hurts and I am so sorry.
People who don't have pets sometimes don't understand how much it hurts to lose one. It is real pain and a real loss. I still miss the sweet and gentle pets who have left me as well as the little ornery characters who were always on the wrong side of the door. I especially miss my Siamese who thought if he went to one door to go out and it was raining or snowing would then go to every door in the house looking for better weather. When they're gone we even miss the annoying things they do.
I like to think their little spirits are still around me. I don't really know if thats true but it gives me comfort.

Very true. We lost a cat just about a year ago and I still miss him every day.
So sorry for your loss.

Condolences to you and to Gino. Looks like you've both lost a fine companion.
I will miss her when it
I will miss her when it storms. After her accident she was terrified of them and always ran to the shower in the only room in the house with no windows. She stayed there during her last illness when she was too weak to climb onto the waterbed.
I'll miss the dainty way she dissected a boiled egg, eating only the yolk and leaving the rest to Gino whose eggs always hit his stomach in one piece.
I'll miss the way she barked at dogs on TV and especially enjoyed dog shows on Animal Planet.
Katie Allison Granju had a link to an entry in a preacher's blog a few weeks ago in which he said, and seemed serious, that cats were in league with the devil and that no, dogs did not go to heaven.
I normally refrain from commenting on sites such as his because it only ends in frustration and one may as well talk to a turnip. But I had to tell him that I thank God that the keys to the kingdom of Heaven are not in the hands of a Southern Baptist.
I am reminded of what that priest once told Toby, "Everything you love will be there."

I'm...
so sorry for your loss. I lost my Tweety last May. I miss her every day. But I also smile a lot when I remember how she and my cat Smoky used to play race tag up and down my house...especially when my Mom was visiting and they used her as their race track, in the middle of the night.
