Tom Humphrey with the details...
Kleinheider said he wrote the news release on his own time, while on a break from his duties in Ramsey's office. It was intended for distribution to a separate "political list" that Ramsey maintains, he said.
So does he have his own personal notebook with his own personal 3G wi-fi account? Or a setup provided by the Ramsey campaign? Does the Ramsey campaign pay the state rent on the portion of his Senate office used for personal campaign and other political activities? Is that even legal?
(Sorry, these are the questions the TNGOP would be asking if a Democrat got caught. Somebody has to do it.)
UPDATE: Oops, the answer to the second part of the first question above appears to be "no." The email in question originated from 'mailgate2.legislature.state.tn.us [170.142.7.28]'. It doesn't help that it's also on official state letterhead. Also, is the "separate political list" maintained on a separate, campaign funded mail server somewhere?
