Local media are reporting the influx of visitors escaping the possible wrath of Gustav. I noticed on WBIR's web site that the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley is preparing to temporarily care for displaced pets.

Donations of dog, cat, puppy and kitty food, preferably the Purina brand, may be taken to the Adopt-a-Pet Center on Bearden Hill.

If you have some spare change, you should think about giving these folks a donation. Their web site has all the particulars.

Oh! And it's tax deductible, too.

As President of the Humane

As President of the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, I can only echo your good wishes.

Responding to Katrina was a huge and long effort for us. We hope that Gustav will not be, but are gearing up to do what we have to.
