Now comes the most dangerous part of any administration, the Lame Duck Session.

It may be moderated somewhat by the marginal Democratic control of Congress but the possibilities are still frightening. What do you think will happen between now and when Obama and a decided Democratic majority takes office January 20?

In the real world when an executive gets terminated, they tend to be escorted out of the building without being allowed to return to their desk. While that is not workable in elected office, I wish that the takeover was more immediate.

Does it make a noise when you shred an email?

In Bush's remaining weeks, he can do lots of damage through executive orders, which bypass Congress. Here's a list of just a few of his recent "parting gifts," as the NYT calls them.

Who will get pardoned?

Scooter has been commuted but will he get a full pardon which will then allow him to vote once again?

Cheney? And hey...can we find out the truth about his Halliburton stock now? I mean his options were at 54, which it hit long enough for his broker to cash him, and now it's 20.

Bush? Can a sitting President pardon himself?

Can he just issue a blanket pardon for everybody in his entire administration?

BTW...I'm still pissed at Jerry Ford for his Nixon pardon. What did that keep us from learning?

Self-pardons

Bush? Can a sitting President pardon himself?

I don't have time to hunt it down, but I believe the Constitution does prohibit self-pardons.

However, if he wanted to get really slimy, he could resign at 8:00 AM January 20, get Cheney sworn in, and have Cheney pardon him, before an Obama administration begins.

Even by this administration's standards, that would be outrageous.

I'm with MDB. A scenario where Bush pardons Cheney, Bush resigns, Cheney is sworn in, and Cheney pardons Bush and the rest of the criminals is not beyond the pale with this bunch.
