That's what Jack McElroy says in a blog post. I think it's crazy. (Also, couldn't the editor of a large newspaper learn how to make an HTML link?)

Pretty good idea, for profit businesses all dropped Knoxville
The top 10 employers in terms of size in Knox County are all government or not for profit healthcare, which depsite all of the puffering and pop talk at the chamber, are really sum zero economic engines in our business community. They try to make an impact, but by definition, they can't put the money into the community that other private for profit businesses can. They don't really spin up many ancillary employers other than the hospitals building up facilities for their physicians, some of whom actually work for the hospital itself.
Most of the publicly held companies are located in Blount County and if the KNS was to dump the stock listings, might as well, as there's no business headquarted in Knox County that's on the big board.
Maybe while the KNS is cleaning out the courthouse, they'll take a look at what makes the business communities of Charlotte, Louisville, Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis, and Nashville go . . . . . . it ain't the school systems like Mike Edwards likes to tell us, it's the business community itself and the corresponding leaderships that pushes it on. We're too focused on the next $10 an hour call cneter and strip shopping center will be and lining supporters pockets with money for industrial parks in areas where no real employer would really want them.
Yes, I agree the KNS needs to dump the business section, there's nothing local to crow about.
