The KNS Game Day Vol Report has a cartoon by Daniel Proctor with a rendering of the Tenntanic for Dooley's 2010 UT Vols.

I just don't get it. Why be so negative? Is it because of the first of their Five Big Things on the Game Day Vol Report front page? Per the Sentinel, "What does a Derek Dooley team look like? Fans and media are largely in the dark, so tightly has the new coach kept the Vols under wraps."

I'm not a big sports fan, but geez. It's the Vols, your local home team.

A pig in a poke

The Titanic is the wrong metaphor. What we have here is a pig in a poke. We may have a good-looking plump porker who will grow into some mighty fine bacon, or we may have a sickly runt who'll expire before bowl day. But we won't know until we get the pig out of the bag tonight. And we won't really know until November or so when we see how they've survived the gauntlet of an SEC football season.

My bet? It's going to be a rough season, if only because the depth chart is about one deep at almost every position, but I think they'll show signs of brilliance to come. I have a good feeling about Coach Dooley.

Saw a T-shirt at the pre-game

Saw a T-shirt at the pre-game insanity Today that read "double d is alright By me". Can only assume it was referring To the coach.

Or maybe not. I usually tear up when I think of the Edmund Fitzgerald but I was smiling while listening to the game.
