All the Democrats who needed 5% got it. Two Republicans who needed 5% failed.

  • Joan Wagner was on 52% of 4th district ballots
  • Elaine Davis got 382 write-in votes in the 4th district, 50%
  • Tyree was on one in three Dem ballots countywide, bested slightly by Tom Salter in the 5th district
  • Nick Della Volpe was on one in four Republican ballots in the 1st district
  • Steve McGill, Jim Andrews, Thomas Pressley, Colvin Idol and James Pirtle all made the August ballot with comfortable margins.
  • Deborah Porter in the 2nd and Kelvin Moxley for County Clerk both failed to get 5%
  • Amy Broyles outpolled Jonathan Wimmer 262 to 157 in the 2nd, leaving Wimmer looking good for next year's non-partisan city ballot and Broyles a party caucus affirmation from being unopposed in August
  • 26,000 voted as Republicans, 7,000 as Democrats
  • Trustee Mike Lowe was the top vote-getter, narrowly edging Tim Irwin
  • Rex Stooksbury won the 7th school district outright, Thomas Deakins will face H Lee Martin in August for the 6th school district seat

Now, all of these Democrats

Now, all of these Democrats need to make themselves and their platform known. If the turnout in August is anything like this one, they will need some Republican crossover to win.

AMY!!!!

Amy Broyles ran one hell of a campaign....she damn near won the primary;Johathan Wimmer ran a very good campaign & Billy Tindell is a good man who has done a great job for the 2nd district for over 3 decades. On election day I began feel that there was a resistance to voting;one political veteran told me it was the toughest election to get folks to the polls they had ever experinced.Thats why what Amy did is so remarkable. In a very short time & in a confusing political environment Amy hit the street with a team of volunteers &  a clear message for change.Amy showed leadership by keeping the lines of communication open with Billy & Johanthan....hell, she even took time to talk to this old politcal hack, when I know she had better things to do.Amy Broyles has proved she's got what it takes to be a great county commissioner...Nominate & ELECT...Amy Broyles;Democrat;County Commission   2nd District!!!!!
