How about a public forum here in preparation for the meeting?
I've lived here a long time and I've seen some crazy things in our town, but there's a few things at the election commission that I want cleared up...
1) Is Scott Firth going to law school on the county's time?
2) Did that Mcnut fella commit voter fraud when he voted in the city after moving to the county?
3) Isnt that a felony, or some punishable crime?
Maybe I'll go to the meeting and ask Mr. Frith the answer to that last question - if he can study law on county time, i supppose he can answer questions about it on county time too.
Seriously?
Why is no one taking the opportunity to take advantage of this???
There might be some shady things going on in the Knox County Election Commission, and I'll admit there might not be.
Nonetheless, this is a place where we can raise the concerning issues in preparation for this meeting.
Come on Knox County residents - do whats right and ask questions, because "without questions we have only answers and an answer without a question is just a statement"

No, Frith takes night
No, Frith takes night classes.
Yes, McNutt committed fraud. No one gave a damn, though, so long as they had that committed vote to oust Greg Mackay.
No, nothing can be done about it because the statute of limitations has ended. The most that could have been done is if anyone in the members of the local Legislative Delegation has any honor, they could have withdrawn their nomination for him.
They didn't. You figure out why
Well, I give a damn, and I
Well, I give a damn, and I thought it was disgraceful that McNutt didn't withdraw his own name.
But then, in the local partisan scheme of things, I AM nobody.
can we petition mcnutt to
can we petition mcnutt to resign?
also, how do we know Frith isn't studying law during the down time of the EC?
I want proof.
also, how do we know Frith
also, how do we know Frith isn't studying law during the down time of the EC? I want proof.
Yeah, I want a new car. Want in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first.
How does one prove a negative? Follow him around all day? Put a tracking bracelet on him, like a convict, and somehow wire it in to his thought processes so you can determine whether he's thinking about his homework?
Lots of people go to school part-time while holding down full-time jobs. It's generally considered an admirable thing to do. Criticizing Frith for last year's well-publicized pecadillos is fair game (although I think the statute of limitations has just about run on that stuff). Ragging on him for going to school is not.
I agree. Plus, Cliff Rodgers
I agree.
Plus, Cliff Rodgers isn't going to let someone screw around over there.
Rachel, when I said no one cared, I was referring to the state Republicans in the local Legislative delegation who nominated him. They could have picked someone else, but opted not to. They still had time after the story broke, but . . . .
Also, the decision to pick McNutt wasn't unanimous, so it was disappointing not to see someone (hint Ryan Haynes) step in and say: "Hey this guy can't even vote correctly, but we're going to let him help make voting decision?"
I was referring to the state
I was referring to the state Republicans in the local Legislative delegation who nominated him.
I knew what you meant. Just being a smart ass.
And I totally agree with your last paragraph. Also your first. As far as I can tell, Rodgers is a straight shooter.
KCDP efforts
Janice Spoone took on this one for us. She got pages and pages of a petition signed (by all parties). We all called or emailed House Reps, talked to State EC, talked to person the state referred us to and basically told by all there was nothing we could do. Hopefully we will have someone at the meeting to ask hard questions, we aren't giving up!
