It is not required that you
It is not required that you file with the Commission office in order to be considered. Correct?
You need to send your resume
You need to send your resume to the commission office if you are interested in an appointment. It is required as they explained in their "process".
At the Commission meeting
At the Commission meeting that set the timeline and process. It was stated that it was NOT required. Mark is it or is it not required?
I have the audio from that meeting
Listening to it now to answer the anonymous person's question.
Submitting Information
I'm certain commission would not exclude arbitrarily someone who sent materials later or was nominated at the forums or even the day of the appointments. The established process is very useful in that commissioners would have a chance to read and review the resumes, develop and ask questions, etc. Furthermore, think of this as a job application. What kind of impression does one make submitting items that are days late or incomplete? I realize the comparison is by no means perfect. My purposes were to remind readers of the process and to encourage applicants.

Doesn't appear resumes are required
Listened to the audio and read the resolution - resumes are not required. Nominations can be taken from both commissioners and citizens during the public forums.
Thank you for the
Thank you for the clarification, Brian. I guess BBeanster is still listening to the audio.
We'll attempt to stream the meetings live
Political Knoxville will attempt to stream the February 11 appointment workshop live over the internet. If it works, we'll stream all of them.
Logan and Walt
Walt Woljnar has his resume in, and Logan should be putting his in today. I think we have two excellent "citizen commissioners" for the Fourth District. I got to know the both of them on the campaign trail, and I have no doubt they will avoid the factionalization and special interests and do a good job representing the citizens. I think they'll make excellent caretakers.

Good! thanks Steve
I'm glad to hear it!!! I had picked my 4 favorite candidates for Fourth District (one from each party for each seat) and your post includes 3 of them :)
Walt..
I only left Walt off initially because I had heard he wasn't interested, but my source was in error. I would certainly encourage CC to consider him for the Fourth!
Is there somewhere we can go
Is there somewhere we can go to get a list of people seeking the appointment by submitting a resume?

Yes, see the post down below
Yes, see the post down below re. the News Sentinel article. They have links to the resumes.
Billy Tindell wants Clerk appt!
Is there no shame with this man? Would anyone of the eleven commissioners (other than Lumpy) even dare to vote for him as an appointment? Please say that reasonable minds will prevail. Amy Vandergriff has said she would go for an appointment but I have not seen that she has "officially" put her name up.

Candidates (w/opposition in general elec) seeking appt
These are the folks requesting appointment who are still candidates to run in the general election (with opposition):
1st District--Albert Baah AND Sam McKenzie
9th District--Mike Brown AND Vernon Rose
Reg of Deeds--Sherry Witt
Sheriff--J. J. Jones
Trustee--Fred Sisk

"SHAME ON ALL FOR ASKING SEATED COMMISSIONERS TO DECIDE THEIR RACES, AND AN EXTRA DOSE OF SHAME ON 1ST & 9TH DISTRICT CANDIDATES, ALL FOUR OF WHOM JUMPED IN THE FRAY! *NOT* HELPFUL!"
There is just no satisfying some people. The idea of waiting until after the Primary was to let the people speak. Now Tamara Shepherd doesn't like what the people spoke so it's back to the drawing board. This was your heroes Mike Hammond and Mark Harmon's idea Ms. Shepherd.
We waited forever so the people could speak. You really don't trust the voters do you? First you want to take away their right to vote for Law Director and the fee offices. Now you want to punish the winners of the Primary. Nothing meets your approval does it? Typical Gang of 500 elitism.
The appointments should have been made last year. This is ridiculous.
Don't care to be in two conversations on this...
If you care to see my response to Nine, I posted it in the N-S comments thread, where he raised this same objection. No need to battle him on two fronts, I think.
Don't underestimate the NS comments:
Even if there does happen to be at least one nut for every sane poster, I think the massive outpouring of outrage over "Black Wednesday" confirmed for a lot of people that they weren't alone. I think having comments available helps to dispel the "yeah, but what good would it do" attitude that, perhaps, is sometimes confused with apathy among the local voters. I know that I personally had conversations with exactly half a dozen people whom I would usually discribe a apolitical where they said something along the lines of "sure were a lot of people upset" in regard to "Black Wednesday." All six later on expressed a committment to actually vote in the primary. Four of them even followed through.
People who would never come anywhere near a political blog (especially a progressive political blog) do read the NS online. I commend Tamara and anonymously number nine for taking the time to express their opinions in that forum.
