From TAMIS:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Picturing the Smokies DVD is here! Buy now while supplies last!!
For those of you who haven't heard about this DVD yet (where have you been??!), "Picturing the Smokies" is a captivating portrait of the Smokies compiled exclusively from rare film preserved at the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound. The hour-long compilation features unique footage captured by the home movie cameras of residents and visitors to the Smokies, as well as clips from early promotional films of the area. Set to a soundtrack of old time music, the film offers a unique perspective and an intimate glimpse of the park before, during and after its inception. Find out more here.
We have set up a "Buy Now" button on our web site so you can make a credit card purchase using PayPal. Or if you are in downtown Knoxville you can pick up a copy at the East Tennessee History Center gift shop (on Gay Street, directly opposite the Tennessee Theatre).
Alternatively, you can place an order via mail. Please send a check or money order to:
TAMIS
PO Box 2773
Knoxville
TN 37902
The cost, if ordering by mail or on the web site is $20 plus $3 shipping and packaging = $23
Unfortunately, it is too late now to have orders shipped in time to reach you by Christmas, but if you are able to make it to downtown Knoxville you will be able to pick one up in time.
Remember that proceeds from the DVD sales will go directly to TAMIS and help continue to preserve our region's film and sound heritage.
Thank you all for your support over the last year. It has been a busy one for TAMIS and most successful.
Best wishes for the holidays and 2010.
Louisa and Brad
