Does this mean they won't be opening that downtown location at the new cinema?

Five Guys Burgers is also in

Five Guys Burgers is also in the area.

Done.

I don't get Five Guys though. Burgers, chips (fries). They're good, I suppose.

Give me Steak n Shake any day. Turkey Creek already has one of those too. I wish whoever opened the Sonic here in Blount County had given us a Steak n Shake.

How?

Probably not enough potential customer traffic. [guffaw]

I'd heard someone say Gridiron was not that good. Red Robin is set to open there soon. There have already been a couple of Turkey Creek restaurants fail, could just be too many, even at Turkey Creek.

meh...

being vegetarian, burger joints slip under my radar most of the time. The new Red Robin will have veggie burger offerings, according to a girl I go to school with who will be working there, so I will probably check it out.

It's very hard for vegetarians to find good fast food that is more than a grilled cheese sandwich (glorified or otherwise...see Quiznos and Subway). Anyone that opened a fast food restaurant with the convenience of a McDonald's or Wendy's that specifically caters to vegetarians, as well as meat-eaters, would probably do very well; especially around the UT area and in West Knoxville at Turkey Creek near Pellissippi State's campus.

At least that's my humble opinion.

Vegetarian Restaurants

It's not technically "fast food" but I would recommend The Glowing Bowl off of Central (near Broadway) as an excellent vegetarian-oriented restaurant. It's more of a diner/cafe than "fast food" but it beats the glorified grill cheese sandwiches you're talking about. Sample menu item from the sandwich menu-- Tapenade and Swiss on Rye: Black olive tapenade with raw swiss on sprouted wheatberry bread. Chips and fresh fruit garnish served on the side.

Also, I hear rave reviews of the Buddha Bowl-- Brown rice, steamed veggies, seaweed salad and a BBQ Miso sauce. They also serve breakfast, smoothies, salads, and other items and will soon be expanding into evening hours with a wine license to allow them to serve organic wines.

Up the street on Central another veggie restaurant is reportedly opening soon. Katie Granju had some details in one of her posts at the KNS site last month. I had heard reports that this restaurant was going to try to feature locally-grown veggies in season, but haven't confirmed anything on it yet.

Yeah...I hear great things about the Bowl...

but it's a bit far to go for lunch when I'm at school. Wish they could and would open a location out West...simply because I eat out only when I'm at school. I mostly cook for myself at home, but at school I need somewhere to go. Cafe dining wouldn't be bad on my long day when I have a couple of hours between classes, but a fast food joint that has vegetarian selections would be most excellent.

I will get 'round to the Bowl soon though. I keep promising myself that as a treat...maybe when I get all the homework done and get my projects finished...
