Xpost from Tennviews...
Don't know about y'all, but I'm being deluged by emails and communiques from friends near and far asking how they can help folks affected by the recent disaster. From Tennessean.com...
Most of my money's probably going to Second Harvest and the Community Foundation of Middle TN.

Tornado relief
Three Red Cross volunteers from our area (two from Knox and one from Union) are in middle Tennessee this morning, helping provide food, shelter, and other needs that affected families have. Six Red Cross shelters were open last night with over 300 people combined in the shelters.
The Red Cross is also working with other relief and response organizations, such as TEMA, the Southern Baptists Disaster Relief Team, Second Harvest Food Bank, and others.
The Red Cross is people like you and me from our area helping their fellow man. If you are inclined to support disaster relief, the Red Cross is also a great way to help.

My brother does a lot of
My brother does a lot of work with the Southern Baptist Relief Team. He lives in Clarksville, so my guess he will be taking time to help out his neighbors.
I'd say any of the organizations named in these posts would be great. Also, the head of other churches in the area -- Episcopal Diocese, Catholic diocese -- would be good, I bet.

Trying to help
I work all week,so I thought I could help somebody do something to help the tornado victims on Saturday. I did not know you had to take a course and let them do a background check on you to help people. What's this world coming to???
Hi Terri, Hands on Nashville
Hi Terri, Hands on Nashville will take you without training. They've been designated the clearinghouse for volunteers by Mayor Dean...more info: HON.org. (They'll also take people outside of Nashville, is my understanding.)
Help
Hi, I have been searching all day for some type of message board or something for these local tornado victims to go to for help with FEMA questions. And this is the closest I've come so far. My family lost their home to a tornado last year and we have been through so much with the SBA. That's the Small Business Administration - it is the department that these families will be dealing with when they are ready to look at renovation/reconstruction loans. I have learned alot through this experience and I want to find a place online where I can help these people in this way. If anyone knows of a message board/blog spot/etc where individuals can help other individuals in this way PLEASE POST !!
*** If you know a victim who will need to rebuild... please tell them to make sure that their insurance/mortgage company states that it is MANDATORY for them to use their insurance proceeds to pay off their mortgage BEFORE they pay it off! If not, they will not want to pay off their mortgage. At least not before speaking with someone who will be handling their account at the SBA! The SBA will expect the victim to use all of the insurance proceeds towards the NEW construction if it isn't MANDATORY. ***

I do no what you are saying. Ive been there my self with them dont give up the intrest rat at 2.8% is good thay will make you jump thru alote of loops but in the end you will see the light...
