On Monday, January 14, at 7:00 p.m. at Lake Forest Presbyterian Church, the Lake Forest Neighborhood Association will sponsor a meeting to discuss the future of Hastie Natural Area, a 75-acre hidden jewel in South Knoxville. The City of Knoxville Parks and Rec Department, the East Tennessee Community Design Center, the Lake Forest Neighborhood Association and the mountain bikers will be there to talk about what's been done and what is being considered for the improvement and enjoyment of this natural area. Anyone interested in city parks and greenways is encouraged to attend.

Hastie Park
We walked the park on Saturday and it really does have quite a bit of potential. South Knoxville really has some opportunities for a wonderful multi-use trail system. The mountain bikers are particularly gung ho for progress. There will be lots of maps and info tonight at the meeting. Come on down.
Hidden Hastie
There is no parking area nor signage for Hastie Natural Area. That's one of the issues for its "development" so that other citizens can enjoy the area. It's located between Redbud Road, Old Sevierville Pike, and the Lake Forest neighborhood. It was going to be a subdivision but it's too steep (unless you chop off the ridges like developers are wont to do) so we're fortunate the City purchased the land. Now it's up to us to build trails, chop out invasives, and connect it to other greenways and trails in South Knoxville. But we need help so y'all come out.
